~*~Chapter 8~Taking it to my Best~*~
By noon there was this pain in my gut. It was nowhere near as painful as what I felt from Minor’s lie. To join in with the pain, there was this pull or need to go to my sister’s school, which is exactly what I did. I disguised myself for the humans as the younger, thirteen year old, version of myself. Most demons can see through the illusion with simple training. Humans, however, are incapable of seeing through the fake persona. It’s what makes things so easy to get passed. We can make ourselves appear as anyone we could possibly want.
I followed the pull into the school and wherever else it could possible lead me. When I stopped outside of the gym doors the pain had lessened considerably. I pushed open the doors and stepped onto the hardwood floor. My pull was leading me towards the girl who just so happened to spit out her water that she had just taken into her mouth. She stared at me for a second as she wiped her mouth before she busted out laughing.
~What on Earth are you doing here, Jez, especially since you aren’t technically you?
I snorted at her greeting before heading over towards her.
~I’m not sure why but I had this gut feeling that I needed to be here, There was this really weird pull that led me to you.
As soon as I reached my sister’s best friend the coach blew his whistle grabbing everyone’s attention. “New girl, who are you?”
I groaned as everyone followed his gaze and stared at me. “None of your business old geezer!” I yelled to him. His vein in his neck pulsated just as it used to when he was still my gym teacher. The class gasped at me. Have they seriously never tried to tick off this gym teacher before? These kids have never lived. “Okay, fine, my name is Jessie and I am probably going to be your worst nightmare.”
~Wow, Jez, that name is so original. I never would’ve seen it coming.
I flipped the teen off as I continued to stare at the old man. “Well, Jessie, I have a feeling you will be visiting the office on your first day.”
“I’m not going anywhere, and there isn’t a single thing you can do about it. So, I suggest you continue on with your class as I take care of my own business.”
A clap rang out in through the otherwise silent gym at my words. “That was a beautiful speech. You should really consider going into that career. Well, that or being a blockade for others wants. How is it that you always seem to get in my way?”
I glared at the blonde haired boy as he hopped down from the bleachers. “You know, Gray, sometimes I ask myself the same thing but my answer is always the same. You are just some fallen asshole that can’t leave me, my family, or my friends alone. Find someone else’s life to get trapped in and get the hell out of mine, douche.”
Another voice rang out from behind Gray, and damn was it annoying. “Oh, wouldn’t you love that. You see, sweetheart, there is a certain aura to you that we have to keep an eye on. As for your family and friends, they are just the bonus factors that we get in the process of making your life hell.”
“Presley, Presley, Presley. If I wanted to have a life in hell I would’ve just went there. I’m sure there are some lovely people down there for me to visit. All honesty, you will probably join me down there one day too.”
An annoyed expression appeared on his face, “Yeah, I highly doubt that will happen, Love.”
I rolled my most likely orange tinged eyes. “Will you two leave Natalie alone, I can guarantee she is capable of a lot more than you are thinking. Consider yourselves lucky I’m not ripping you two to shreds right now.”
