Ding Dong
"I'll get it." Hauwa rose for the front door.
Once she opened the door, the least person she wanted to see was standing at the threshold of her door."Please don't,"he used his hand to prevent the door from closing. "I'm sorry."
Hauwa just turned her back and walked back into the living room, living the front door open.
"Who was..." Yaseer paused as he saw Amar.
Yaseer's brow creased into a big frown.
"What are you doing here you..." Yaseer stomped to where his cousin stood."I'm not here to fight,"he raised his arms in the air. " I'm here to apologise."
Yaseer glanced at Hauwa before turning his gaze back to his cousin.
"Can I sit? My legs are aching."Yaseer frowned.
Amar smiled warmly.
Hauwa rolled her eyes.
"Sit." Yaseer finally offered.
Amar made himself comfortable on the couch.
He cleared his throat a couple of times.
He wanted to utter something but choked on it.
After the last throat clearing, he sat straight up and look at both his cousin and Hauwa."I shouldn't have acted the way I acted last time," he brought his eyes to start staring at the ground. "I know my behaviour was rude, wild and out of control. I am really sorry for all that." he raised his head to look at Hauwa but she turned her head to the opposite direction immediately.
Silence filled the room.
"Apologise to Hauwa personally, I'm good." Yaseer spoke.
Amar heaved a heavy sigh and fixed his gaze on Hauwa who still had her face turned away.
"Hauwa, I'm truely sorry for how I treated you the other day. You can insult me or curse me, but please do forgive me. After that incident, when I returned home I spent days pondering, reflecting and thinking." Amar paused because he noticed Hauwa was about to speak.
"In my opinion, the right thing to have been done was think before acting all crazy." Hauwa finally stared at Amar straight in the eye.
"I'm really sorry once again."Amar couldn't help but apologise again.
"Sorry isn't going to fix things, mend your ways!" Hauwa snapped.
"Calm down." Yaseer spoke.
"Don't tell me to calm down, you're also supposed to be apologising to him for being brutal." Hauwa said right after Yaseer's statement.
Everywhere became suddenly silent again.
Yaseer looked at his cousin who was sitting opposite him and then looked at Hauwa before finally fixing his gaze on Amar.
Yaseer got up.
Walked towards Amar.Amar had planned not to get into any fight even if Yaseer was to bring up one, but the way Yaseer approached him made him switch to defense mode.
"Are we good?" Yaseer spread his arms opened his waiting for Amar to hug him.
Amar heaved a sigh of relief and embraced Yaseer.
The scene was like that of little male kids that were bestfriends.
A smile unfolded on Hauwa's lips.
"That's more like it." She clapped.
