Hauwa's POV
"Hauwa, be fast! I think they are here."Umma called.
"Okay Umma."I applied eyeliner to my eyes before making the final touches on my face and headed downstairs.
As I walked through the hallway, I halted, turned to the mirror that was by my right then inhaled and exhaled heavily before I continued walking.
I finally got to the living room, and the first thing I sighted, was a fair skinned guy with beautiful well gelled curly thick black hair, light brown eyes that could get a lady hypnotized.
The finely sewn sedaa(an expensive material) attached perfectly to his slim statue, his nose as pointed as my ball point pen and to finish the gorgeous look, his huluna(a cap usually worn by the hausas) placed on the side of his head allowing half of his hair to be revealed.
When I brought myself back to reality, I went to greet his parents I suppose.
"Inakwana(Good Morning)." I showed my respect.
They replied, and I went to have my seat which was directly opposite the man whose name I didn't know.
And that was the only vacant couch.
"So as we have come to the decision of getting our children married to one another, I want this meeting to be for them to know each other more."my father started to say.
"Yeah, yeah I agree with you Mr Inuwa."The guy's father spoke.
Before I knew it, Umma had already put the guy and I in the small sitting room.
"Get along okay?"she said before shuting the door.
After Umma left, there was few seconds of annoying silence.
I wanted him to start a conversation, but he was just so busy pressing on his phone.
It annoyed me, so I just had to break the silence.
"Hi."
"Hello."he said without looking up from his phone.
"So, you are?"I asked trying to get his attention.
"I am Yaseer."he kept it brief.
"Nice, anyways I am Hauwa, Hauwa Waleeda Inuwa."I told him.
"Cool."was all he said still staring at his phone with his leg crossed.
"So what are your likes and dislikes?" I tried to make him speak more.
I mean, who the heck doesn't like to talk?
He was silent for some time before raising his head to look me straight in the eye.
He's cute eyes were piercing deep into mine.
I bowed my head downwards, because I couldn't bear the way his eyes glowed into my poor eyes.
"I like truthful, hardworking, cool ladies,"he paused then typed on his phone before continuing. "I dislike betrayal, cheats, too much talk and I also love ladies with
vibes..." He smiled when he said the last part.
I also returned the smile with a funky one.
"How bout you?"he asked as he stared at his phone screen.
He was just like Ya Amir....
They were both phoneholics!!.
"Hmm... I like white chocolate, watching movies especially romcoms, a Huge fan of joker, love writing poems, singing and dancing,"I swallowed some saliva to wet my throat. "My dislikes are dogs, lies, puppets, greedy and arrogant men and ants."I looked at Yaseer from the corner of my eyes.
"Ants?you dislike ants?"he asked putting his phone aside this time. "I have Ant colonies at home."he un crossed his legs then sat without his back touching the chair.
The way he say reminded me of Amar.
"Ant coloniessss?"I asked with my eyes wide open.
"Don't worry, just kidding around."he giggled a little and I joined in.
"So what job do you do?"I asked.
"CEO's job."he replied.
"Okay?"I said more like a question.
"So how many kids are you planning to have?"Yaseer looked serious.
"Hmm... Maybe three or two."
He just smiled.
"So do you like sports or exercising?"I asked as I fidgeted with the ring on my finger.
"I wouldn't say sport, exercise is a better word to use, I love exercising and I go to My indoor gym everyday."he rested his back on the chair and crossed his legs again.
"So got an siblings?or are you the only child?"he asked.
"Yeah, I got a lil sister and a big brother, how bout you?"
"I ain't got any siblings, I am the first and last child."
Finally he was talking....
Our dialogue continued for hours before a knock on the door interrupted.
In came Safiya with a tray of homemade snacks, drinks, appetizer and water.
"Umma told me to bring it here for the both of you."she put the tray on the center table.
I was about to exhale really heavy because Safiya didn't create a sin, but unfortunately I didn't.
And guess why?
"Mr dude, are you my sister's husband? Oh my God a Rolex watch,"she said once she sighted his watch. "Answer, are you her husband, or you just came to kidnap her?"
"All of the above,"I answered like I was Yaseer's mouth piece. "No get your butt out."I said through grinted teeth.
"Bye in-law."she smiled awkwardly and left. Yaseer didn't touch the snacks, he only took the drink.
"Aren't you gonna have some samosas or spring rolls?"I handed him one samosa.
"Nah, I don't eat oily snacks a lot, don't wanna get a pot belly."he chuckled.
And his chuckles were perfectly perfect.
But there was one thing which I still didn't get.
Why did my parents want get me married to Yaseer when I didn't even love him.
Five hours lasted, and Yaseer and his family were starting to leave.
"Bye."I waved as they drove away.
My family and I went back into the house.
"So is he your husband or a boyfriend or just a normal friend?"Safiya bombarded me with questions.
"Hold on,"I told her before she could utter another word. "Firstly, you don't need to know, secondly, you don't need to know and thirdly, you don't need to know."I smiled before heading for my room.
Coming to think of it, Ya Amir was in his room throughout till Yaseer left.
What could he be up to?
