Hauwa's POV
"we'll be back in a week time, I want this house to be intact when we arrive."she planted kisses on I, safiya and ya Amir's forehead before exiting the house with dad walking side by side with her.
Once the car drove out of the compound, safiya began bouncing from one couch to another.
"Free... Dom..."she chanted.
Ya Amir's eyes were just glued to his phone that he didn't notice Safiya's craziness.
"What will you have for breakfast ya Amir?"I asked.
"No need of cooking, Umma already made masa, I think i'll be fine with that."he didn't look up from his phone and safiya was still bouncing.
"Okay."I went to the kitchen.
I sighted the cooler which contained the masa.
I pulled out few circles and placed them on a plate for Ya Amir, and then poured the soup with some meats by the side.
Then I went to give him.
I hate being the middle child, but it can be fun sometimes... Only sometimes.
After breakfast, Ya Amir suggested we go get gelato from the ice cream shop near by.
"And i'll have bubblegum, vanilla, caramel, chestnut..."safiya listed as we strolled to the shop.
"Can you be quiet!"Ya Amir snapped, cutting her short.
That was when her innocent face appeared again.
This girl....
We placed our orders and waited patiently for it except safiya.
"Could you be more fast, Mr?"she told the person who took our orders.
"Safiya."I called through grinted teeth.
She behaved like she didn't hear me.
"Didn't you eat breakfast today or something?"she spoke rudely which made me pinch her hard.
She let out a little cry making Ya Amir give me a deadly glare.
We finally collected our ice creams and went back home.
"This will be the best day ever,"safiya dramatized. "I'm gonna bake us a cake."
I blinked continuously, looking at her.
"After the way you turned the kitchen the last time."
"Don't worry, this time will be different."she assured.
"Indeed."I muttered.°°°
*in the evening*
As I read one of my favorite author's novel, my phone rang.
I stretched to grab it from the nightstand.
The number was an unknown number.
I picked it.
"Hello... "I said.
"Hi, remember me?"the familiar masculine voice spoke.
"Please who is this?"I was confused.
"Isn't this Hauwa Inuwa?"he asked as his Fulani tongue mixed with his words.
"Yeah it is... Who is this?"I repeated.
"Oh... You forgot me, how bad, it's your full time crush,"he paused and I held my breath.
Full time crush?
"It's Amar Gumell you silly?"he completed.
"Ammy? I mean... Amar?"I said surprised.
I had given him that secret nickname, Ammy, since I fell for him... But how did he know I fell for him?
"Hello? Are you still there?"his voice brought me to reality.
"Yeah, so where have you been?" I pictured his handsome face.
Oh geez
"I got a job in the states, so haven't been in the country, I just came back yesterday?"he explained.
"Okay, so... "I was cut short with safiya bursting into my room.
"Where is the sugar container?"she asked rudely.
I signified that she should get out, but she was too stubborn and kept asking about whatever shit.
"Amar,i'll call you later okay? Bye."after he replied, I hung up.
"What's your problem? Can't you knock?"I scolded.
"You didn't paste it on the door."she gave an attitude.
I pulled her ear, and she cried.
"Learn how to be nice like me."I released her ear, and she just walked out of the room leaving me with the slammed door..
"Brat."I grabbed my book and continued reading.°°°
Safiya's POV
Like I seriously didn't find the sugar container, I asked Ya Amir and he just typed away on his phone then I asked
Hauwa and all she did was scold... Scold and scold... Maybe coz she was talking to her boyfriend...
Back to the sugar matter, I found an alternative or should I say substitute to replace the sugar.
It was.. Salt...
As I pulled the cake out of the oven, the aroma travelled round the kitchen and some even escaped... I bet the neighbors enjoyed eating the aroma and not the actual cake.
"So you finally didn't burn the kitchen this time, bravo."Hauwa walked into the kitchen.
I threw off the kitchen gloves and apron signifying I was done... Baking.
"It'll have to cool first."Hauwa said as I pulled out a knife from one of the drawers.
"I know that."I defended immediately then walked out of the kitchen.
I went to my room which was filled with posters of ARIANA GREENBLAT, I love that girl like crazy.
I threw myself on my soft and comfortable mattress which was framed with a pink painted bed.
I exhaled heavily.
School had been on holiday, and was to resumed in a week time, but I wasn't ready for that.
I wasn't ready for the play boys flirting with me, I wasn't ready for piles of assignments or homeworks and most of all, I wasn't ready to go back to Omar's and I's relationship...
I felt guilty for keeping this from my family, but I had my reasons... Tangible reasons.
I was already drifting to sleep, when a loud horn interrupted.
I heard the front door open and close, so I looked through the window.
Ya Amir was standing by the passenger window of a black Camry.
What was he doing?
Who was that?
I moved closer to have a glance at the person in the car, but the person was wearing a hoodie.
Ya Amir and the unknown person exchanged something very fast.
Tucking what he collected from the unknown person into his pocket, Ya Amir walked back into the house.
What could that thing in his pocket be?
I returned to my bed leaving what I saw aside and attending to my dearest... Sleep.°°°
