*9 long years later*

Hauwa looked out the window as she watched her two beautiful kids play peacefully in the grass.

A tiny and thin tear trickled down her eyes.

"No, it's alright." Amar put his hand over her shoulder and caressed it with his thumb before pulling her close to him. " You're not at fault so don't blame yourself." He moved his hands to her hair now knowing well that she was about to blame herself.

Hauwa sniffed.

"I wish he could see how much the kids have grown." She leaned her head on Amar's shoulder.

"Certain things happen for certain reasons, don't dwell on the past," He looked at her eyes. "Okay?" He wiped her tear with his thumb.

Amar and Hauwa had gotten married few months back.

They had a spark and there was this connection between them that was just inevitable.

Amar had been Hauwa's greatest support throughout the times she wanted to give up.
The times she felt alone.
The times she felt down and sad.

A feeling that comes back is a feeling that never left people say.

Amar moved Hauwa gently to his front and wrapped his arms around her waist. The back of her head rested peacefully on his chest.

Her hair brushing his chin lightly.

"Aren't you happy that you're furthering your education?"

"Sorry for -" Hauwa paused as Amar whispered a low shh in her ear.

"Don't be sorry for anything,"he placed his chin on her head. "We decided this together."

There was a second of silence.

"Don't say sorry again,"he whispered into her ear again and moved his wrapped arms to her chest. "Okay?" He put his chin on one of her shoulders making their cheek brush against one another.

Hauwa mumbled a small mhm.

Amar turned his wife around to face him.

Her innocent face stared back at him.

"Do you need another hug?" He asked.

"I'm fine." She sighed and put on an obviously fake smile.

"Come here." Amar pulled Hauwa into his embrace.

The warmth of his body almost made her break into a fist of tears.

He held onto her tightly.

Her face buried in his chest hiding the tears that threatened to fall from her eyes.

"There,"Amar stroked the back of Hauwa's head in a sequence. "Let it all out." He didn't mind that her tears were soaking his t-shirt.

Hauwa sniffed.

"Are you good now?"He asked without releasing her yet.

She nodded.

"You're sure?"he still held her closely.

"I'm good."she said in a low tone.

Amar slowly loosened his arms that had been around her for about twenty minutes.

Once she was out of his arms, he waited patiently for her to dry her eyes completely before saying "We need to brighten up the mood with a little something. What do you think?"

Hauwa stood there silent.

Amar lowered himself to her height and looked into her eyes with a brow up.

"Icecream."a thin but genuine smile spread across her face.

"That's more like it!" Amar returned her smile with a smile too. "Everybody get dressed, we're going to get icecream!"

Hauwa chuckled a little.
"Tell the kids, I'll go and inform umma and Safiya."Amar told Hauwa.

"Right." She mumbled.

"And remember,"he drew an upward curve in the air. "Smile." He winked and vanished down the corridor.

Life indeed had its way of changing one's destiny.

Hauwa lost Yaseer and it was as if a part of her life was gone.
When she thought she couldn't handle it, there came Amar to fill the empty space in her life with even more.

Haya and Safiya moved in with Hauwa and Amar because Amar insisted that Hauwa's family should be close by.
"The more, the merrier." Was what he used to win the 'debate'.

Amir got employed at Amar's company which was paying him really well to leave alone. He visited them occasionally.

Hauwa still kept the memory of Yaseer instilled in her kids even though she knew all he had done in the past.

There was a reason it was called 'the past'

"Do you know what he used to call me?" Hauwa looked up at Amar.

"Yes."Amar nodded with a light smile.

"Babygirl."They both said in unison.
Then chuckled afterwards.

It was the billionth time Hauwa had told Amar that.

"Let's go pretty,"Amar held Hauwa's hand then kissed it before spinning her in circles. "After you my lady." He moved aside for her to pass.

She played along.
Held her head up high and did a runway catwalk out of the house.

Amar trailed behind her.

Everyone was in the car and ready to go eat icecream till they all got brain freeze.

"Are you all ready to go on this journey of icecream?"Amar asked once he was in the driver's seat.

"YES!"Everyone in the car said in ultimume excitement.

Amar turned on the car and drove out of the house.

"Happy endings really do exist." Safiya smiled warmly as she stared at the bright blue sky through her side of the car window.
