kyomi's pov
Kyomi watches Yori dart out of Heartbreaker's office and walk briskly down the hall to the doors. She tries to catch up, with no success.
"Yori, wait!!" Kyomi jogs to catch up with her.
The other girl stops right in front of the doorway. She looks at Kyomi quizzically.
"I just wanted to thank you. For saying that in the office. I really appreciate it."
"I didn't do it only for you," Yori starts.
Kyomi looks at the ground.
"But you're welcome, I guess."
When Kyomi looks back up at Yori, her eyes are drawn to the dark circles under Yori's blue ones. She takes in Yori's disheveled hair, her slightly pale face.
"What?" Yori asks.
Realizing she was staring, Kyomi tries to look anywhere else. The wall behind Yori, the doors, her hands. She finally settles and makes eye contact.
"Are you okay?"
"Why wouldn't I be?"
"I was just wondering, you seem kind of—"
"I'm fine, Kyomi. I'll see you."
And with that, Yori pushes open the door and heads outside.
——————
Kyomi notices that Yori looks more and more exhausted as the days go on.
Her head is always down on her desk, and her fighting moves become sporadic and frantic, unlike her usual calculated style.
Yet she manages to stay at the top of the class.
Kyomi wants to ask her if everything is alright. She wants to listen to her issues and comfort her when she needs it.
But she doesn't want Yori to run away again. To act like everything is fine. She finally got to see a little of how Yori feels in the past few days. She can't lose it again.
So she waits. What for? She's not entirely sure. Maybe for Yori to come talk to her on her own, or for a good time to ask. Or for Yori to get magically better.
She doesn't know what for, but she waits.
