yori's pov
It's numb. The whole arm is numb. Just from a little fall.
Gone. Just like that.
All the feeling in her arm.
Which means no more hero work. Because she can't feel her arm. Or her quirk working on that side.
She can barely even move the arm.
Yori can see Kyomi place her hand on her bicep, but she doesn't feel it.
She hears Kyomi reassure it'll end up okay, that the world isn't over, that she can still do hero work, but she can't.
She won't ever be a hero. And she doesn't want to work in a hero office, just doing paperwork.
What is she going to tell Aizawa?
Through all this, Yori doesn't register being driven to the hospital or being told to take something to put her to sleep.
She also doesn't register changing her clothes and being taken to an observation room. She doesn't even realize when she falls asleep.

When she wakes up, both Kyomi and Heartbreaker are waiting in chairs beside her bed.
Upon seeing Yori awake, Kyomi mentions something about "getting the doctor" and leaves the room.
"How are you feeling?" Heartbreaker asks.
"Still nothing. Though they gave me painkillers. But they're for nothing."
Heartbreaker gives her a tight lipped smile.
"Well, they're trying to fix it. So, we'll see"
"I can still do work for you," Yori says, "Just not field work."
Heartbreaker shakes her head.
"Let's talk about this later, okay? We can wait a bit and see how things turn out."
Yori luckily doesn't have to respond, because then Kyomi walks in with a doctor behind her.
"Okay, so. We looked at your shoulder, and you do seem to have injured your brachial plexus," he points to a diagram.
Yori watches as her heart sinks further and further.
"While we will be able to help you regain mobility, it's unsure how much feeling you can ever recover. The nerves seem to be permanently damaged."
"Oh," is all Yori can respond with.
"We also left you some painkillers, because you seem to have torn your rotator cuff as well. That we fixed up, and it should be fine in no time, but we do recommend you still take the medication."
Yori just stares.
"So no hero work?" She ends up asking.
The doctor shakes his head and apologizes.
"Can I go now?"
"We're actually going to keep you overnight. we've contacted your parents, and they should be coming early tomorrow. I or a nurse will come back in to check on you later."
He heads out the door and Heartbreaker stands up.
"I'm going to make a couple calls and let them know how everything is. Are you two alright alone?"
Kyomi nods.
Once Heartbreaker leaves, she turns to Yori.
"Your painkillers should be setting in soon, I think...just to warn you."
Yori can feel them. Everything seems looser, and she's tired.
She looks at Kyomi, really looks at her. And then she notices it. A little scar on her chin. Without thinking, she reaches out her right arm and touches it lightly with the pad of her thumb. Kyomi freezes under her touch.
"You still have it," Yori whispers.
All Kyomi does is nod. Yori draws her hand away.
"Do you remember that day? I think that's one of my favorite days ever. Other than you falling on my sidewalk."
Kyomi smiles a little, which Yori takes as a sign to keep going.
"That day I realized 'I want her in my life forever'. That day we just hung out on the porch outside for hours instead of doing what we planned. We had my mom bring us dinner out there. We probably would've fallen asleep too, if not for my mom bringing us inside to my bed,"
Yori takes a breath.
"We fell asleep all curled together...You remember that?"
Kyomi nods.
She just has to do it. She just has to tell Kyomi how she feels. She deserves to know.
Why would she not?
"Kyo...I...I think I want to fall asleep like that with you for the rest of my life."
Yori watches Kyomi's face as she processes it. It's blank.
All she gets in return is a "Yori..."
Kyomi starts to speak up, but Yori can't hear it, the sleep overtaking her.
