heartbreaker's pov

It is Heartbreaker's third week with Visionary and Lightbringer. And if she has to hear one more second of this bickering, this desire to be better than the other, the tension coming off of them in waves, she will lose it. It's like they both want the other to leave—and maybe they do.

So that's what brings her to where she currently is. Sitting at her desk, facing the two girls in chairs in front of her.

"Do you two know why I brought you in here?" She asks.

Silence. They look at each other, then back at her. Yori shrugs.

"When I invited you two to do your work studies with me, I was under the impression that you two were at least civil with each other. Maybe not friends, but not constantly going for each other's heads. Which, clearly, turned out to be not true. So, I'm going to give you three options."

She pauses and looks at the girls. Kyomi looks scared, her eyes wide and mouth slightly parted. Yori's brows are furrowed, but with concern or confusion Heartbreaker can't tell.

"One: I ask you both to leave. Your bickering and refusal to work together is not only infuriating, but it can be fatal in battle, two: one of you will leave. Either you two decide who or I will, or three: you both learn to cooperate and at least be civil. I'm not asking for you to be friends, but to work together enough for this. I'll let you guys decide now."

She leans back in her chair, expecting the girls to start talking about their decision. But instead, Yori pipes up.

"We'll get along"

"We will?" Kyomi whispers.

"Yes. I don't want to leave this thing, and as much as I try not to pay attention to her, I know that Kyomi doesn't either. So yeah, we can be civil and stay. I promise."

Kyomi doesn't respond to that. She just sits back in her chair.

After a second, she nods in agreement.

"Okay. Well, that settles it. I'll see you both later," Heartbreaker says, dismissing the girls.

When the girls leave, she puts her head in her arms.

All she can do now is hope they follow through on Yori's promise.
