3 days later
"So we need some sort of transition for this cut. Any ideas? It can be anything, we just need a few more extra scenes to make the time," says Chris, scanning the desk where we were all scattered about. Except Felix, he moved his desk closer—more like I made him—so I was at arms reach for messing with his hair.
This felt right. Jia didn't exist in my headspace anymore; it was always filled with Felix. In class, in the halls, at home, during tests, at night, at dinner, every day. Not a second went by where I didn't wonder what he was doing or what it was like to kiss him in whatever scenario I was currently in.
It was euphoria.
"The least you can do is pay attention," a voice bellows, commanding Seungmin to stop his explanation and turn around towards me. Without moving, my gaze flicks up at the leader with his arms extended over his podium.
Curtly, I remove my hand from the blonde's head, allowing Felix to continue writing, only now with red cheeks and quirked letters.
"My apologies," I say low enough for him to hear. "Continue, Seungmin." I click my pen, keeping my leg crossed over the other as he returns to his explanation.
The words flow in and out like hot flashes. "Into the right," "back that way and," "more as a center piece." None of it made sense. Thank god I got put as an actor.
Then there was Chris. When I wasn't tuning in to the editing nonsense, I snuck a few glances to the man at the front of the room. His face has been taunt for days, with little to no smiles every day. His eyes flash at me. I look down embarrassed. If I didn't know any better, it'd say it was jealousy that stole his smile and left him bitter whenever I did anything remotely out of his schedule. Getting coffee was no longer about messing around, it was now, "can you quiet down? Come on, now. People are trying to drink in peace." It didn't seem like a problem last week.
And it was only this week where the major change occurred: Felix said yes to my confession. It was a moment of feeling lovesick and ecstatic at the same time. He had cried. Maybe we both cried. And as I hugged and kissed him, behind him was the shadow of our leader, his taunt expression making its debut.
Something was different after that night. I had seen them emerge from behind the house together, so the proposal altered something in the moment when they were together. I couldn't put my finger on it. Whatever it was, though, it was pissing me off.
I catch the second hand on the clock make its final round, filling me with relief. Felix leans back, crossing his arms at the same time. I turn my head towards him, coaxing any sort of reaction from him. With pressed lips, the hand tucked under his arm forms a finger heart my way. I feel my own ears burn before shaking my head, smile tight and snug on my face.
"Great idea," says Chris, adding it to the list on the chalk board. "I want the shooting done by the end of the week. The festival is the Wednesday the following week, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't make sure our editing is how it should be." He looks to me, as if waiting for a response before bluntly adding, "let's be successful."
"Yeah, President." The bell rings and we all rise. Jisung and Minho are scurrying to the door, probably to catch some alone time at each other's lockers before heading to first period. I had an online class while Felix was stuck in Advanced Chemistry. It only gave me relief to have dropped science while I could. Wouldn't do an artist any good anyways.
As I'm waiting for Felix beside the door, I catch him talking to Chris. The two smile at one another before our leader seems to nod in some sort of agreement. "Great!" beams the blonde, turning his heel back towards me.
