Warning- this chapter includes child abuse
You knew as a child that your parents hated you. They found every little thing possible to punish you. You could eat something and they'd accuse you of doing something wrong. So when your parents walked into your house after a bad day at school, your 7 year old mind panicked and your fight or flight instincts kicked in. You ran to your room immediately and hid in your closet.
Soon you heard your dads voice. "Where the fuck is that little shit!" Was yelled outside your door. You whimpered and curled into a ball as you listened. Soon light flooded your vision and a whine escaped your throat as you blinked repeatedly, trying to adjust your eyes.
Suddenly you felt a hand around your throat and fear filled your chest as you looked up to the face of your father. You saw your mother standing in the door way. "Do you like to be a disappointment? Or are you just plain fucking dumb? Huh?!" Your father shouted in your face. His grip on your neck tightened as you started sobbing, trying to pull his hand off.
"I-I'm sorry! I didn't mean too I swear!" Was incoherently yelled from your small body as he stood up and pulled you downstairs. As soon as you were in the living room he threw your tiny body to the floor. "Do you like embarrassing us?!" He screamed as a harsh kick was landed on your side.
You screamed in pain. "Answer me! You worthless mutt!" He yelled as another kick hit your sides, you couldn't stop crying as the pain spread. Breathing hurt every time, and you didn't even do anything bad. He was mad you didn't get a perfect score on your spelling test. When you got it back and saw you accidentally spelled "height" as "hieght" causing you to get a 99% you started crying right then and there.
"I-I'm sorry dad, I promise I tried!" You sobbed out. Your dad just shook his head as he turned and walked away. You were wheezing in pain and could barely move. Your mom who was watching from the door way rushed to follow your dad after glaring at you. As soon as they were in their room you did your best to get up and stumble to your room. Since your room was on the first floor, sneaking out your window wasn't that difficult. Doing it with your injuries however was. But you managed it.
You ran to the park down the street as best you could. Once you got there you went to the swing set and sat there. The cold air of the night against your hot face from crying felt amazing. Taking deep breaths you finally calmed down as you looked up to the night sky, you smiled at all the stars. "What're you doing here?" You heard from behind you.
You turned around and saw two boys behind you. You tilted your head at them and said, "looking at the stars, why're you here?" You asked. They looked to each other and shrugged. They walked over and sat on the swings of either side of you. "We heard you crying. Are you okay?" The shorter of the two asked.
You nodded slowly and mumbled, "yeah, I'm okay. I just got hurt today." Hurt was an understatement but they didn't need to know that. "Oh. well I'm glad you're okay now." The taller boy said. You looked over at him and nodded before looking to the other boy. They both gave you small smiles, and you allowed yourself to bask in this small moment of comfort.
•••••
Every night since that day you met the two unnamed boys you snuck out. Thus began a friendship. None of you bothered asking for each other's names, you'd just play with each other all night and you'd be back home by morning. The abuse from your father and neglect of your mother never stopped.Sometimes the two boys you grew attached to would help bandage some of your wounds and then you'd play. One night though, you were sneaking back into your room when you realized your light was on. Looking up you saw your dad sitting on your bed seething.
You immediately panicked and went to go back out the window but he grabbed you and yanked you inside fully. As soon as you were inside and fell to the ground a kick came at your ribs over and over as your dad screamed "what the fuck did you think you were doing?! Huh?! Do you think we wouldn't of found out?! You worthless piece of shit!" Hit after hit. You eventually felt the crack in your ribs and screamed out in pain.
You felt as if your throat tore as you sobbed in pain. Your dad slammed your door shut as he left your room. You passed out on the floor in pain that night. Being half vampire you'd heal fast. However being only half meant you'd take a couple days to fully heal.
As soon as those days were up your parents had you packed up and sent to live with your grandmother to attend a boarding school for high ranking, wealthy Vampires. You'd live there until your grandmother died when you were 17 before being moved back in with your parents 10 years after escaping the abuse.
