The sun was just starting to set. We had silently side by side on the bench for over an hour. It wasn't tense or awkward, but rather comforting. it was nice to finally be near him after all this time. I sighed, knowing it was time for me to go. I looked over at him and couldn't quite read his expression, meaning he was in deep thought.
"um... Kacchan... I need to head home, im sorry," I softly said, trying to hide the fact i was disappointed. He shifted his gaze over to me and studied my face for a second before getting up and grabbing his bag.
"well, come on then," he said, stepping over and picking my bag up for me. I shot him a questioning look. He huffed and rolled his eyes. "I'm walking you home dumbass. It's going to be dark soon." I knew better than to argue with Kacchan over this topic, plus i was grateful for the extra time with him. He handed me my bag and i slung it over my shoulder. we started making our way back through the park, and he spoke up.
"So are you finally going to start responding to my text now?" i glanced up at him and his face was serious again. It made me chuckle.
"yes. and your calls." I heard him "tch" and mutter a "you better" under his breath, causing me to smile softly and a light blush crept onto my cheeks.
By the time we got to my house the sun has set significantly. Dark blue hues painted the sky with muted oranges and yellows. It was a nice evening, with a gentle, warm breeze. I was expecting him to stop in front, but he ended up opening the gate for me. I blushed and thanked him as i walked through. We walked slowly up to my front door, stopping and staring at each other. Our walk had been rather quiet, but it was peaceful.
"Thank you for walking me home Kacchan," i said with a warm smile. It did mean a lot to me, especially after everything.
"yeah yeah, whatever," he scoffed while rolling his eyes and looking away. I giggled lightly seeing him be himself again. I saw the corners of his mouth turn upwards slightly. I was about to turn and unlock the front door, when he suddenly grabbed my hand. I looked up at him and he had a soft look on his face, almost sad even. I wanted to hug him so badly, but i didn't want to over step the current boundaries. He sighed and released my hand with a sense of reluctance. I tried my best not to frown in front of him. He sighed and shoved his hands in his pockets walking off.
"see you tomorrow Kacchan!" i called with a gentle smile as he opened the gate.
"Whatever," he responded, walking off towards his house. I sighed and let my smile fall some. I felt a twinge of pain in my heart. I swallowed the small lump in my throat. I unlocked my door and stepped in, instantly being greeted by my dad standing there.
"oh! uh.. welcome home skuilly!" he quickly blurted out, looking a little flustered. I raised an eyebrow at him in suspicion.
"dad, were you ease dropping?" he laughed nervously.
"N-no..." I rolled my eyes with a soft chuckle. He was a terrible liar, and he knew it. He sighed deeply. "i was worried when i saw you and Bakugo walk up together. I wanted to make sure i wouldn't have to intervein anything bad." I smiled at him reassuringly.
"Thanks dad, I really appreciate. Even if you are a bad liar," I chuckled. He looked away like he didn't know what i was talking about. We were silent for a second before busting out into laughter at his bad acting. We settled down after a minute, and he looked at me with his caring fatherly eyes.
"But seriously, was everything ok?" I pondered over the question for a second, debating on how to word what happened.
"It is. We had a tough talk after school, both getting things off our chest. Its a little shaky right now, but it'll get better. I heard a lot of things i needed to hear, and i think he did too," i gripped the bottom hem of my uniform's skirt. "I know i could have handled what happened. I should have been more open with communicating with him. I don't think it would have changed my decision to transfer, but maybe i could have kept my friendship strong. at the same time though, if i hadn't done it this way, i might have learned the value of friendship." I suddenly realized i was starting to ramble some. "Sorry dad, i didn't mean to word vomit on you." I looked up at him, and he was smiling at me.
"i'm proud of you sweetie. things will work out how their suppose to, but your becoming more mature. As your father, i will stand by your decisions you made. That said though, you're growing up and learning how to handle your actions. How did i get such a strong daughter?" I felt my heart swell and happy tears threatened to fall. I hugged him tightly.
"Thanks Dad."
I laid in my bed staring up at my ceiling. I had the window open, letting some of the cool night air in. It was a little late, but not terribly. Close to 9p. Dad had left for work around 7p, so i was relaxing before bed. I had taken my blazer off , but left the rest of my uniform out of laziness. I didn't have any homework yet which was nice. I felt my phone buzz, so i sat up and picked it up off my nightstand. I was secretly hoping it was Kacchan, but figured it probably wasnt. I unlocked it and saw it was from Mina.
Mina: Hey girly!
me: Hi
Mina: Today was crazy! I can't believe how cool your quirk is!
me: Thank you, most people think its a little creepy
Mina: L A M E its so awesome. fuck the haters
I smiled down at my phone. She was so nice, and i really was looking forward to being her friend. I felt another buzz and saw she sent another message.
Mina: ok but dont like LITERALLY fuck them. Might catch something from the hater-aid.
me: omg no
Mina: Just saying
We kept texting for a little longer she said all the guys in the class were staring at me today, but i didnt see it. maybe she was just trying to be nice? She started talking about the boys in the class and their cuteness level, until we finally said our goodnights. I was about to change into my pajamas, when my phone buzzed again. 'Who could that be?' I wondered. I unlocked my screen again, the felt my heart skip a beat.
Kacchan: Hey dumbass
me: good evening
Kacchan: did you send in your hero costume papers
me: yeah, did you?
Kacchan: Of coarse and its going to bad ass, better than the other fucking extras
i couldnt help but giggle at him being so him. It was nice to talk like this. i started changing into my pajamas while responding.
me: you're probably right. Mine's boring, because of needing to be functional with my quirk
Kacchan: Ha mine works with my quirk
me: I can't wait to see it!
Kacchan: be ready to be jealous
me: i know itll be the best
he read my message but was taking a little to respond. I went ahead and plugged my phone into the charger, then turned my light out. I crawled into bed as he responded.
Kacchan: i'm going to bed so you better not wake me up
me: i wont, im going to bed too. Good night Kacchan.
kacchan: Whatever
I smiled softly to myself as i quickly drifted off to sleep.
