3rd person POV

Yoongi stood there for a second in utter shock, watching his mate run off into the veil of night before quickly following in suit. He wasn't going to let her get away without trying. If she wanted to leave after he talked with her, he'd accept that but what worried him was the possibility of her getting hurt running away at this time of night. "Y/N!" Yoongi shouted, running after the girl. He wasn't using his full speed hoping her energy would run out soon, but it was hard to ignore his wolf who was itching with the instinctual urge to chase after his mate. Y/N on the other hand, her lungs were on fire, and her body was aching, begging her to stop but she couldn't. She couldn't face him. He deserves better. She thought. Yoongi was actually surprised how long Y/N was able to last with the condition her body was in, but he noticed Y/N was starting to lose her energy, so he took that chance to speed up and tackle the omega, causing both of them to grunt painfully as they hit the ground. As they were falling the alpha turned them slightly so his back would take all the impact. It probably wasn't his best idea, but it was all he could think of at the moment. Y/N stiffened as her senses were overloaded with her mate's scent and presence, and despite herself she felt herself start to relax in his hold. She didn't want this. She didn't want to want this. She didn't deserve to want this. Despite the instinctual pull she was feeling deep down to want to relax around her mate, it was also met with fear. Being this close to an alpha, holding her so tight, it was too overwhelming. She felt so confused, so conflicted. She started hyperventilating, struggling against his hold and Yoongi noticed. He quickly pulled himself away from the Omega before helping her up. "Y/N please just talk to me," Yoongi pleaded, not wanting to lose her. Y/N hesitated for a second, cringing away from Yoongi's touch, seriously debating turning around and running away again even though she knew he'd just catch her again.

*Give him a chance Y/N, * her wolf insisted, hoping she'd listen even if it was only for a second. Y/N agreed, putting a bit of space between her and the Alpha, hands tightly gripping her bag. Yoongi sighed in relief but also hurt by how desperately she seemed to want to stay away from him.

"Please Y/N, just tell me why you were going to run away. D-did I do something wrong?" Yoongi felt his throat close up, knowing he'd probably be close to tears by the end of this, but he didn't care, he was ready to let himself be vulnerable in front of someone for once especially if it was Y/N.

"You didn't do anything wrong. It's just... I-I just... I'm not what you want as a mate Yoongi. I can't help lead a pack. Especially not one as big as this. I can't give you what you want physically, and I'm broken. I think we've both figured that out at this point, and I just can't trust myself to open up to you at this point knowing the Alphas I've known," Y/N said, scooting herself further away from Yoongi while wrapping her arms around her body. Yoongi felt hurt, he knew what the Alphas Y/N had encountered were like from what Eunji and Haru had told him, and it wasn't exactly a good experience which led to a lot of mistrust between her and the alpha dynamic, but he didn't believe he had shown himself to be the sort of person that should be lumped into the same group with the Alphas she was so afraid of. No matter what though, he was determined to fight for his mate, and prove that he was different. That he was worth it.

"How do you know you aren't what I want? I don't know exactly what your experiences with Alphas have been like in the past, but have I ever done anything to show I mean any harm or that I have ill intentions towards you?" Y/N shook her head sheepishly, knowing Yoongi hadn't done anything wrong. On the contrary, other than his usually cold exterior he seemed to exude around everyone else, he had always been kind and gentle with her. "As for leading a pack, you won't be alone, and I'll be there to help you every step of the way. I'm not just going to throw you into the deep end and see if you'll swim or drown. Hell, I'm still trying to figure out this whole leading a pack thing myself too. I've been waiting for you for so long and I don't want to lose you just when I've found you. You are perfect and I don't want to let you go," Yoongi said, voice cracking slightly. Y/N felt so conflicted, she was confused and really didn't know what to think. She wanted to trust Yoongi because he seemed like a good person and she had grown attracted to him over the past month or so, and she didn't want to have to go back out there when she had a chance at a home, a safe home where her friends were, to not be a rogue anymore, and possibly find happiness and love.
