Kanto Tournaments: Josei Shonan Vs Seigaku (Deep Impulse)

I was back at court in Seigaku and waiting for the captain to come. He said he had a special announcement for all of us.
"Seigaku," Tezuka said as he entered the courts. "Line up. Regulars in front. I have an announcement to make."
We all did as he said, anxious to hear what he was going to say.
"I'm going to Germany to do rehab on my elbow so I can continue playing tennis. While I am gone, Oishi will be your acting captain. You will obey him and listen to everything he says. I will be doing check-ins with Oishi to see how things are going. Until I am back, Oishi is your captain. I leave for Germany tonight," Tezuka announced.
The courts got super loud in a few seconds, everyone talking about Tezuka and his announcement. Tezuka left the courts. I nodded at him before he left and he nodded back.
"I'll see you again, Captain," I whispered under my breath.
"Were you expecting this?" Ryoga and Ryoma asked together.
"Well, yeah. Germany is a popular tennis place and they've got good rehab places there as well. It seemed only fitting that he would go there. Also, he needs rehab. If he doesn't get it, he'll never be able to play tennis again. And we all know how passionate he is about tennis. That's the one thing he doesn't hide under his mask," I shrugged.
"We'll see him again, right?" Ryoma asked.
"Hai, Ryoma. Are you worried about him?" I teased. He scowled at me and walked away, most assumably to grab a grape Ponta.

The next day the lineup for our next Kanto match came out.
Doubles pair 2: Echizen Ryoga and Y/n Vs the Tanaka Twins.
Doubles pair 1: Kikumaru and Oishi VS Kiriyama and Oota.
Singles 3: Kaido Vs Wakato.
Singles 2: Echizen Ryoma Vs Shinjo.
Singles 1: Fuji Vs Kajimoto.

I was in Doubles 2 with Ryoga. Great. The other two were twins, but Ryoga and I were equals, accomplices, friends, and I love him.

The day after that and the tournament was going to start up again.
I stretched and stretched for ten minutes, grabbed a grape Ponta and then ran two laps and stretched a little bit more before grabbing my racket and stepping onto court with Ryoga behind me. The two twins stood in front of us. One with short reddish-pink hair and the other with long blue hair.
I took my stance and waited for the umpire to call it.
"One set match! Echizen to serve!" the umpire shouted.
Ryoga threw the ball into the air and then slammed a twist serve, already using his trick shots. That means he's serious about this match. I narrowed my eyes as I focused on the movements of the return ball. The two twins charged the net and then raised their rackets. They staretd to return nearly every ball we hit at them. I was slightly shocked at their agileness and movements.
1-love, us.
1-1.
1-2, them.
2-2.
3-2, us.
4-2, us.
4-3, us.
5-3, us.
5-4, us.
6-4, us.
"Set and match to Echizen-L/n!" the umpire shouted. We shook hands with them and then left the court. I caught a Ponta thrown at me by Ryoma and downed it in a few gulps. Eiji and Oishi played the next match and won 7-5. It took them a while. The tiny one kept running up the big guy's back in order to reach all of the lobs they hit. Eiji's stamina was used up by the end of the match and they were both hot and tired.
In the third match, singles 3, it was Kaido against Wakato. He played pretender tennis, copying famous tennis players for his own use. And he copied them well. he also had a lot of fangirls. Like, a lot. Every time he changed his playing style, he would always yell "CHANGE!" and his fangirls would yell "OVER!". He'd usually end up taking his hat off, throwing it in the air and then putting it back on to complete his little phase.
And Kaido, he had a hard time. Especially when Wakato copied Kaido. Kaido can't beat himself, because you can't practice or play yourself. He started using his Boomerang Snake and Wakato couldn't copy that move. In the end, after a long time, Kaido finally won the match 7-6.
And then it was Ryoma's turn. He stood up and adjusted his cap before picking up his racket and walking out onto court. He had a taller, silver-haired opponent.
Ryoma got himself a few games before Shinjo, his opponent, took a new stance; one that nobody's seen before. Their sensei Hanamura looked furious at Shinjo. Huh, he must not be allowed to use that move for some reason.
He crosed his arms in an X and then slammed his racket into the ball, calling out "deep impulse".
The ball went flying straight at Ryoma, hitting him in the face and knocking him over.
"Echizen!" Momo shouted.
"Chibi!" Eiji called.
I moved closer to the net, not bothering to shout at him.
"You two aren't even the least worried he's going to get himself seriously hurt?" Momo asked with widened eyes.
"No. It's Ryoma. He's not going to give up or lose without a fight," I said as Ryoma stood up. He had a single cut mark on his right cheek and his racket's strings were broken from the ball.
"This is getting interesting now," Ryoma muttered as he walked back onto court. He got into his usual stance and attempted to return Deep Impulse to Shinjo's side of the court. He didn't. He got hit in the face, on the right side of his cheek again.
After that, Shinjo did a normal serve and then Ryoma returned it, only to get hit with Deep Impulse once more on his left cheek.
Huh, must be able to hit Deep Impulse as both a serve and a return move. That's dangerous.
"GO, RYOMA!" Tomoka-kun was shouting through the fence. I continued to watch in silence, ignoring the little girl.
"You think he'll win?" Ryoga asked.
"Aww, is big mean Ryoa worried about his brother?" I teased with a grin. Ryoga tried to change the subject again, his ears turning red.
"But to answer your question, yes. I think he'll win. This is Ryoma Echizen we're talking about. The arrogant and risky first year tennis player," I said with a laugh at him.
Finally, Ryoma managed to counter Deep Impulse and return them. He ended up winning the game after a while. The final score had been 6-4. Fuji didn't get to play in Singles 1.
After the game, Ryoma came back to our area and squirmed in his seat as Eiji and Momo began fussing over him along with Coach Ryuzaki. I laughed and then pulled out my phone and took a picture of all of them, Ryoma struggling to run away. I quickly sent it to a group chat of everyone on the team and then laughed at it again.
I poked Ryoga and then pointed at Ryoma and his phone. He glanced down and checked it to see what I had sent him. He smirked and then held it up for Ryoma to see.
"Y/n!" Ryoma shouted at me. I laughed at his face and then took another picture. The regulars all picked up their phones and then burst out laughing at the scene I had snapped. I grinned at them all and then wrapped an arm around Ryoma and Ryoga's shoulders.
"And this is how a team looks," I smiled.
