Doubles Gone Wrong

I decided I would ask Ryoga if he loved me. There were signs, and I hadn't been brave enough to ask before. But now I will ask. I promised myself. And I like to keep my word no matter what.
And so I went searching for Ryoga. It was easy to find him. He was out on Seigaku's courts training with the rest of the regulars.
"Ryoga!" I shouted, waving him over. He frowned before walking over with his racket.
"Hai, Y/n?" Ryoga asked as he came up to me.
"I have a question," I said.
"Hai," Ryoga replied. "What?"
"Ryoga-san, I want to know . . . do you love me?" I asked, crossing my fingers and hoping for a yes. Instead, I got my heart broken.
"NO!" Ryoga blurted loudly, drawing the attention of the rest of the regulars. They all walked over at his loud shout.
"Something the problem?" Tezuka asked. I shook my head.
"I need to go. I have some . . . stuff to do," I said quietly before walking away calmly. As soon as I was out of sight, I started running, not bothering to hdie what I felt. It was agony being rejected by Ryoga. But as always, boys are clueless.

Ryoma Echizen's P.O.V

I walked over to Ryoga as I heard him shout with the rest of the regulars. After we got there, Y/n made up an excuse and then ran away. I could easily see through her mask. She was hurt, upset.
"Ryoga," I warned. "What did you do?"
"What did he do?" Eiji asked, confused.
"That's what I'm asking," I scowled. "Ryoga, tell me what happened and why you made Y/n run away."
And then Ryoga explained it.
"Ryoga!" I shouted in his face, one of the few times I raised my voice. Ryoga flinched at my tone along with the rest of the regulars. After all, none of them have seen me act like this before.
"What do you mean you told her no?" I glowered.
"I told her . . . no," Ryoga replied weakly.
"Why would you tell her no, Ryoga? You know as well as I do that you fell for her a long time ago before we came back to Japan," I seethed. "And you say no when she asks you?"
Ryoga looked away from me.
"Fine. Ignore me. But you better fix this, Ryoga. She's our friend. More than that to you," I scowled as I walked away, leaving him behind me dumbfounded.
And then the next day came and Ryoga had already left to get to school before I had even woke up.

Y/n's P.O.V

Ryoga rejected me yesterday. This is why I always cautioned myself away from boys. Because they always break your heart in the end. I shouldn't have expected anything different from Ryoga. After all, he was a boy. Just like the rest of them. Sure he played tennis better than anyone I've ever met, but he was still a teenage boy with a tiny mind.
I sighed as I walked to school, getting to class early and going out to the courts earlier than everyone else. I sighed as I sat down on a bench and tied my shoes, fixing the tension of my racket strings.
"Regulars!" Tezuka shouted as soon as everyone had gathered on the courts. "You'll be playing doubles. Members, you'll be practicing as usual on the other courts. And seventh graders, you'll be picking up balls and learning as you watch the matches."
"Hai, Captain!" everyone shouted.
"Doubles pairs are on the board," Tezuka said. "Go looked and prepare yourselves."
I turned towards the board and then scowled.
Y/n and Echizen Ryoga.
Inui and Kaido.
Eiji and Oishi.
Momo and Echizen Ryoma.
Fuji and Taka.
And then I saw the bracket.

It was a decent bracket, but I had to work with Ryoga

It was a decent bracket, but I had to work with Ryoga. And that was my only problem. I don't want to be paired with the boy who broke my heart.
I scowled and then readied myself at the net with Ryoga behind me. He served four times and each time it went out of the service court, giving Eiji and Oishi a game.
"Those two are the famed Nightmare pair?" an arrogant voice asked. "I can't believe I was ever scared of them!"
I pulled a tennis ball from my pocket and then hit it with my racket, the ball nearly going through the fence in front of where the kid was talking. I think his name was Arai. An idiot and slightly self obsessed brat and member of the team.

Ryoma Echizen's P.O.V

I watched in silence as Y/n and Ryoga's game started. They were doing horrible. Neither of them could think straight and they had horrible combination. They kept hitting the ball outside of service court, giving Eiji and Oishi every game and making it 6-love. They never even scored one point because they were so distracted. I mgiht just go up and slap some sense into them. After all, they got eliminated from the tournament in less than ten minutes.
"Echizen," Momo shouted at me. "C'mon! It's our turn!" I sighed and turned away from them. They'd need to get over it soon or we'd lose every true battle coming up next.

Y/n's P.O.V

I know mine and Ryoga's combination is completely thrown off. We were horrible today. We weren't even in sinque. In fact, Eiji and OIshi won the game because we kept serving bad serves. Our minds weren't in it, therefore, our bodies weren't either. We need to make up soon if we want to win the next game and keep up our reputation. But I'm not throwing away my pride. If anyone's doing it, it's going to be Ryoga. I refuse to throw my pride away for a boy who broke me.
I.
