Prefectual Tournaments: Yamabuki Jr. High (Akutsu) Vs Seigaku

And then we had another tournament to play in. I was getting really sick and tired of all the matches, and yet when I stepped onto court I felt so alive, especially when I was playing doubles with Ryoga.
"Fuji-senpai!" I shouted as I ran onto the Seigaku courts for practice. Fuji turned to me with his signature smile on. "Fuji-senpai, who are we going against tomorrow?"
"Yamabuki Jr. High. If you'd like to know more, I suggest you go find Inui," Fuji replied.
"Hai!" I said happily as I ran off to find Inui. I never found him. Instead, I made myself late for practice and had to run twenty laps while Ryoma and Ryoga laughed at me. I scowled at them both and then grinned to myself.
"Oishi-senpai!" I shouted as I passed him. I paused. "Ryoma hasn't been drinking all of his milk. I caught him feeding it to Karupin yesterday." Ryoma glared at me. Yes, it was a lie, but I'm not letting him get away with it. "Oh, and Ryoga hasn't been practicing as much at his house."
"Echizens!" Oishi shouted. "Twenty laps!"
The two of them glared at me and I grinned at them happily, finishing my laps before them and then laughing at them while they scowled at me.
"We had another match tomorrow!" Oishi called. "Rest up! You're all dismissed!"
"Chibi!" Eiji shouted, skipping over to us. "You haven't been drinking your milk? But how are you going to grow big and strong if you don't drink your milk?"
"Y/n was lying," Ryoma said plainly before walking away and getting swarmed by Horio.
"You were lying?" Eiji asked loudly.
"They deserved it. They were laughing at me, so I got to laugh at them," I said with a scowl. "And tomorrow I'm going to get you back, Ryoga." Ryoga stuck his tongue out at me and then we both went to our own houses and awaited the next battle.

The next morning I woke up to someone shouting in my ear. I flung my hand out and pushed the person away.
"Go away," I mumbled into my pillow. "I'm sleeping."
"It's prefectual tournaments, Y/n," Ryoga replied. I sat up ramrod straight as I heard him. I then jumped out of bed and shoved him from my room. I grabbed my uniform and then quickly got dressed and ran downstairs and grabbed my tennis stuff before racing Ryoga to the courts.
"You're nearly late!" Momo said as he saw us running.
"Blame it on her. She slept in," Ryoga said, jerking a thumb at me.
"Like that hasn't happened to you before," I retorted.
"Quiet. We must go sign in," Coach Ryuzaki chided, grabbing us by our ears and dragging us towards the sign in tent.
"We're registering as Seigaku Academy," Oishi said, signing us all in before dragging us to our court where we would be playing Yamabuki. We had an hour to wait so we all ended up walking around aimlessly.
I was with Ryoga, Ryoma had gone somewhere with Horio, Katsuo and Kachiro. I had seen Arai following them and was slightly annoyed. But Ryoma could handle himself.

Ryoma Echizen's P.O.V

I seperated from my friends a few minutes ago and heard yelling from somewhere. I turned the corner and saw a tall, spiky silver haired teen with a racket in his hand. he was hitting balls at Kachiro, Katsuo, Horio and Arai. No matter how much I dislike Arai, I couldn't let him get hurt. I sighed and the guy turned around.
"You must be the first year regular," he scowled at me. I nodded and then walked over to my friends. I turned around after helping Katsuo off the ground and barely had time to lift my racket before the ball slammed into it. I blocked a rock next. I scowled at him.
And then the teen picked up a handful of rocks, threw them in the air, and then hit them all towards me. I raised my hands to cover my face, but I couldn't block all of them at once. I felt a few of them cut into my face and the pulled my hand away, tentatively touching the scratches. I let out a low hiss and then turned around to walk away. I heard the other guy walking away and then felt a hand on my wrist. I looked over and saw Horio grabbing my wrist.
"COACH RYUZAKI!" Horio shouted. And then Coach Ryuzaki came over. I scowled as she looked at me.
"What happened to you, Echizen?" Ryuzaki asked.
"I fell," I shrugged.
"Come on, Ryoma. You can't keep using that excuse," Ryuzaki said. "Let's go." She grabbed my ear and then dragged me off with her, knwoing fully well that I'd run away at the first chance I get.

Y/n's P.O.V

I knew Ryoma had gotten himself in a fight when he came back with cuts on his face and said he had fallen. He sucks at lying. Like that one time he said he was helping a pregnant lady. Lies. He had slept in.
I turned to the lineup sheet and then grinned to myself as I saw it. Looks like Ryoma might be challenged this time. I hear Akutsu is hard.
Doubles pair 2: Fuji and Taka Vs Kita and Nitobe
Doubles pair 1: Eiji and Oishi Vs Minami and Misami
Singles 3: Momoshiro Vs Sengoku
Singles 2: Echizen Ryoma Vs Akutsu
Singles 1: Fuji Vs Muromachi
"Well, this will be interesting," I said, grinning to myself.
"Hai," Ryoga agreed. "Chibisuke might have some trouble this time."
"It's a shame we're not playing today," I mused. "I really felt like it."
Ryoga nodded and we watched as Fuji and Taka-san stepped onto court and raised their rackets. In the end, they lost 3-6. Seigaku's prodigy genius and a power player and sushi chef. Strange combination, but it would've worked out for any other match.
Eiji and Oishi played next, winning the match 7-6. They were both tired at the end, mostly Eiji because he had used up so much stamina.
Sengoku was supposedly called Lucky Sengoku because he was lucky. I don't know. But to get that nickname, he must have a lot of luck. In fact, he nearly beat Momo because he was so lucky. Well, that was utnil Momo used a new move he had learned. Everyone called it Momo's Jack Knife. It was a hard, fast and straight line right to the baseline where the opponent wouldn't be able to return it because of how strong the hit was. I mean, Momo's a power player after all. Momo won that round because of the Jack Knife. The game was 7-5.
I leaned forwards as Momo came back from his match and Ryoma started stretching to prepare for his match against this guy named Akutsu.
Ryoma finally got onto the court and stood in position as the silver haired man from earlier walked onto court. He was the one who had hit Ryoma and his friends. I scowled and mentioned this quickly to Ryoga who immediately scowled as well. He might act like he doesn't care much about Ryoma, but I know he does deep down. He's just gotta let go of his pride long enough to admit it.
Ryoma got himself prepared as he stepped forwards and served a twist right at Akutsu's face. Akutsu somehow managed to return the serve, shocking Ryoma for an instant before he realized he had just lost a point. He readied himself again and then won himself a game. 1-love.
And then after Ryoma had won his third game, Akutsu's stance completely changed. It made him look like a predator on the prowl. He was able to reach and return every single shot of Ryoma's. I really don't get how Ryoma managed to beat Akutsu in the end, but he did it. 6-4. And we were all proud of him in the end. Even Ryoga, though he tried not to show it. I only had to bug him five thousand times before he finally admitted it.
Aferwards, since we had won the Prefectual Tournament, we all went to Taka-san's sushi resturant again to celebrate. This time Momo didn't take anything I tried to give him. I was only offering him the kind he liked. Honestly, I was slightly disappointed that he didn't have any trust in me. But I get it. I'm a devil and I gave him wasabi sushi last time we were here and he couldn't get the taste out of his mouth.
I laughed at his expression and then later that night I fell asleep laughing to myself about everyone. But my mind lingered on one person the longest.
