The next day we had the Tokyo district tournament. We were going against Gyokurin. It seems as though they completely embarrassed both Ryoma and Momo yesterday after practice during street tennis.
And that made Ryoma and Momo want to get them back. So Coach Ryuzaki let them in to play doubles together against with the street tennis kids. Gyokurin. Those two really loved revenge. I nearly laughed at the idea of Ryoma playing doubles. I've ignored Ryoga as long as I could and I still am. But Ryoma was stuck on my mind. Him. Ryoma Echizen. Playing doubles? He's a singles player, not a doubles player. Besides, he's never played doubles before. Ryoma would need a lot of luck to pull this off with Momo.
The lineup is as follows:
Doubles pair 2: Momoshiro and Echizen Ryoma Vs Tomoyo and Kimiyoshi.
Doubles pair 1: Eiji and Oishi Vs Iguchi and Suzuki.
Singles 3: Kaido Vs Kageyama.
Singles 2: Kawamura Vs Shimizu.
Singles 1: Fuji Vs Nakano.
Ryoma was going to be in trouble. He's only watched doubles, never played, never tried to play, and never practiced doubles before. I bet if I looked in his bag right now, I'd find a book on doubles for beginners.

Ryoma and Momo went onto court against these two weirdos with bad hair. They high-fived each other when they saw Momo and Ryoma.
"For Seigaku regulars, we thought you'd be better at this game," one of them shouted. It was the one with orange hair. I think that one was Tomato and the other one was Kimberly. I leaned forwards on my seat, excited to see how it goes.
Momo his a fast serve and nearly hit Ryoma on the back of his head, causing Ryoma to turn around and yell at him. Momo yelled another retort back at him and they both scowled before turning back to the game. They played using embarrassing grunts. Honestly, I felt bad for them.
Momo and Ryoma quickly lost the first to games before managing to find a way past doubles and into singles.
They both moved to opposite sides of the courts, one at the net, and the other at the baseline. They placed their rackets onto the ground and then started dragging them on the line, drawing a boundry to separate the court into two different halves.
Ryoma stood on one side of the line and Momo stood on the other, both of them having a new look of confidence in their eyes instead of frustration and anger. They started playing and quickly came back. They played singles instead of doubles, causing the other team to get agitated.
I mean, I would too if I couldn't find a weak spot in their armor. I still do up to this day.
Well, I thought they couldn't find Momo and Ryoma's weak spot, but I guess they did. It may or may not be a weak spot still, it honestly depends on who gets the ball first.
Tomato nodded at Kimberly and then Kimberly shot the ball straight down the line. They made a weird grunt again and they both reached for the ball and Tomato and Kimberly smirked. They faltered when the ball went speeding past them. Momo had hit the ball instead of Ryoma and Ryoma had let him.
"Go, Ryoma!" I shouted, waving at him as he looked over. He nodded and then turned his attention back to the game, playing hard with his left hand.
In the end, they made a huge come back and won 6-2.
Eiji and Oishi-senpai won the next doubles match 6-love. And then after that game, everyone won their match 6-love.
It's a shame I didn't get to play. But Ryoga's been avoiding me and running away from me and I've been avoiding him. Besides, we're not in the best shape right now.
Afterwards we all went to Taka's sushi place to celebrate another win. Ryoma kept getting smuggled by Momo and Eiji.
The next day we practiced doubles. Again.
