After the end of the meeting, the seven children sat outside of the meeting room, waiting for their superiors to finish inside.
The atmosphere between the children was still. They all sat quietly at a table as they thought about Eri and Y/N. Midoriya and Mirio were beating their selves up over how close they were to saving her.
The table was grim as Aizawa walked out of the meeting room with Hawks. "What's this? Someone's funeral?" Hawks asked trying to lighten the mood.
In reality he was also worried. His stomach turned at the thought of the pain the young girl was experiencing. He had to brush past his worries though, he was a Pro and he had to set an example for the children before him.
"Listen up." Aizawa said. The students looked up at him, "At first I was apprehensive on letting the four of you join this mission." He said gesturing to Kirishima, Uraraka, Asui and Midoriya.
"But I mulled it over and as long as you don't cause any issues, I'll let you participate." He said causing the students to sigh in relief.
He then looked to Midoriya, "I was apprehensive because you have a tendency to jump into a fight head first and that's something that has gotten you into trouble more than once." He said narrowing his eyes at the greenette.
Midoriya bowed his head and Aizawa spoke, "If you do anything stupid, there will be serious consequences this time." Aizawa said.
"Cut the kid some slack Shota, he's got good intentions at heart." Hawks said. Aizawa glared at the winged hero, "He can't go around jumping into fights without a plan. If he wants to be a hero he has to learn the hard way, like you did." He said.
Hawks raised his hands in defense, "Low blow." He frowned at his friend. "Mr. Aizawa..." Asui said in her frog like voice. The Raven haired teacher looked in her direction.
"When will we execute the plan?" She asked her home room teacher. Hawks spoke up, "As soon as we get the whereabouts of the Yakuza base, we'll strike, we'll be gathering intel this week so it'll be within the next 7 days." Hawks explained.
Aizawa decided to speak, "Until then, you're all expected to keep everything about this case to yourselves." He said authoritatively. The students gave a firm nod of approval.
"Now who's down for some Chicken Nuggets!?" Hawks hyped. "I c-could go f-for some chicken." Amijiki whispered nervously.
The students gave sounds of approval and Aizawa turned his nose up at his friend, "You disgust me Keigo." He said.
That night the seven students got back to the dormitories and the third years went their separate ways. When the 4 1-A students walked into the lobby a few of their peers sat around.
"How was your work study?" Kaminari mumbled as he looked through his phone. While Kirishima, Uraraka and Asui put on plastic smiles, Midoriya simply couldn't.
The class looked at him curiously, he had a frown on his face and seemed extremely out of character. "Hey Midoriya, are you alright?" Todoroki asked the freckled boy.
Midoriya nodded, "Yeah, I'm just tired. I'll be heading to bed, see you tomorrow." He muttered. Todoroki nodded and he watched as the greenette disappeared into the elevator.
Midoriya walked into his room and flopped on his bed. It was all his fault. He could have saved Eri. She was right there in his grasp and he couldn't even save her. What kind of hero doesn't save people in need?
He was getting swamped in his self depreciating thoughts. The world seemed so hazey as he became clouded in his own negativity. What seemed like an eternal mental mumble was interrupted by a knock at his door.
