The picture is not a part of the story. I just thought it would be nice and it has raindrops which kinda goes with the beginning of the chapter.
After school I head to the library. I know exactly where I have to go. When I walk I start humming a song that has been spinning in my head the whole day. I get interrupted when my phone rings. It's first then I realise I was humming. I look around, scared that somebody heard me. I can't see anyone so I don't think anyone was listening. But in that I'm wrong. I answer my still ringing phone.
"Hi."
"Hi! God it took you long to answer me! Where are you and what are you doing later today?"
"Sorry Lauren." I chuckle. "I'm walking to the library."
"In the rain?"
"Yeah?" It was meant to be a statement but it came out more as a question.
"Are you crazy?"
"Nope." I say popping the p. "I'm just me." I hear Lauren burst into laugh on the other end of the line. She knows that I love to walk in the rain but still she thinks it's a bit odd.
"I know, I know. But what are you doing later? It's important!"
"Nothing I guess."
"Wrong!" Lauren states.
"Well what am I doing then?" I ask though I already know what she's going to say because always when she has said "wrong" to me when she asks me what I'm doing and I don't have anything it means she has something planned. This is one of the reasons why she is my best friend.
"You are coming over to ours and helping me choose my costume!"
"Won't that take quite long?"
"Well you know me so yes. But you can sleep over at our house so we have more time and because why not?"
"Okay, I just have to get some things for tommorrow after I've been to the library and then I'll be on my way to your place."
"Don't loose yourself in the library! I know you!" She laughs.
"Yeah yeah. I'll see you soon?"
"Yeah, bye darling!"
"Bye!" I end the call and put my earphones in and start listening to music.
Soon enough I'm at the library. I walk up the stairs and in trough the doors. I know what I'm here for and I know maybe where it is. I walk slowly to the other end of the library and through a small door with the text 'MYTHOLOGY' written in silver letters. It's a quite big room with dust on most of the shelfs. People don't come here that often. I start walking between the rows of bookshelfs and try to find the book I'm searching for. I find it quite quick at the back of the room. When I'm starting to leave I hear something from the other side of the shelf I'm standing next to. It sounds like something heavy falling. I take a book from the shelf and look through the gap to the other side. There sits a boy holding his foot. He has a look of pain on his face and his eyes are glistening. Next to him lies a thick book. I put the book back and run quickly around the shelf and to the boy.
"Are you alright?" I ask kneeling next to him.
"Yes I guess." His voice sounds a bit familiar.
"What happened?"
"This book I was looking at slipped from my fingers and fell on my foot." He points at the book.
"Does it hurt?"
"A bit. Are you worried about me?" He smirks.
"Where does it hurt?" I ignore his comment.
"In my heart."
"No really, where does it hurt?"
"My foot. I'm not sure I can stand up." He sounds worried.
"Should I call the ambulance?" I'm starting to get worried for him.
"I think you should. Could you wait with me here untill it comes? It would be boring to just sit all alone here."
"You could always read a bok while you wait."
"I guess you're right but it's always more fun to talk to someone. Especially when that someone is as cute as you." He winks at me. "Aww! You're even cuter when you blush a little like that." I feel the heat rise in my cheeks and I'm probably just blushing more at his words.
"No boy has ever said something that flattering to me. Except for relatives. Boys don't talk that much to me anyways."
"Why? They should be battling for your attention. Or maybe not because then you maybe wouldn't have noticed me. Now I get all your attention." He smiles at me. He has a nice smile. What am I thinking? I shake my head in a try to forget my thoughts.
"I wouldn't like it if everyone would buzz around me. That's more Lauren's thing."
"Now I know why you looked so familiar! You're Lauren's shy friend, aren't you? I've never really noticed you before. No offence but you're kinda like her shadow."
"I know and it doesn't bother me because I'm, like you said, shy. I guess you could call me an introvert." I look down at my hands which are resting in my lap.
"I don't mind. You don't seem that quiet now."
"I'm usually not this talkative. I guess it's the library, I almost feel like at home when I'm here."
"Or maybe it's because you've got someone like me to talk to." He smirks. I guess it might be him too, he seems very easy to talk to and be with. Shut up mind!
"You maybe should call that ambulance?" I realise I haven't called it yet. I walk a bit away from him and make a quick call.
"They are coming soon." I walk back and sit next to him.
"That's a shame."
"Why?"
"When they come I'll have to stop talking to you. You're nice talking to. Maybe we should hang out sometime?"
"I erm.. I don't know you're name and I'm not sure you know mine."
"I'm Nick. You?" He smiles his adorable smile. What?! Shut up mind!
"Ivy. By the way, what was that book you looked at? The one you dropped." I'm curious of what he likes to read and why he picked that book. And why he were in this part of the library.
"It's about the gods of Olympos. I've always been interested in mythology."
"Me too. Are you going to dress up as one of the gods to the dance?"
"I don't know yet. If I do it might be too easy to guess who I am. What are you going to dress up as?"
"I don't really know yet." I say though I know what I'm going to dress up as but I don't want to tell anyone yet. When the ambulance comes I'm a bit disapointed though I don't know why.
"Thanks for staying with me and for calling the ambulance." Nick smiles and a few seconds later they are gone. I pick up the book he was looking at and put it back in the shelf. I take my bag and the book I came here for and leave the silent room.
When I walk home to get my things for tommorrow all I can think of is Nick. I've never really talked to a boy before. He was nice and it could be fun to hang out with him sometime. Maybe. His smile was adorable when it reached his ice-blue eyes. And his brown hair was in a nice quiff. Shut up mind!
