Back To School

Yesterday I got home from the hospital. Today I'll have to go to school again. Why does school excist? Why do we have to go to school everyday for like twelve years of our lives just to go to college after that? Just why? It's such a waste of everything. But I guess if we wouldn't have schools we would still live in caves and hunt all day. I guess it's not a waste of everything after all. Though a few (understand: many) things could be improved.

I try to be fast when I pull my clothes on and putting my hair up and picking out some nice pair of earrings to wear. I decide on a pair that looks like droplets which are a nice blue. They go well with my outfit consisting of black jeans and a blue shirt with white polka dots. I hurry downstairs and quickly make some breakfast for me to eat. Mum has probably already left for work.

Five minutes later I'm on my way to school. I really shouldn't rush. I'm starting to feel a bit dizzy and decide to stop for a while to clear my head. I walk in a calmer pace the rest of the way. Mum would have wanted me to let her give me a ride to school but I refused. I don't want to draw any unnecessary attention to me. I've already been away for three weeks. If mum would drive me it would most certainly draw attention to me because I always have and always will walk to school. Lauren has tried to help me with everything they have done in school though she isn't the best one to help in that. She isn't stupid or bad at school if you thought that. No, not even close, quite the opposite actually. She just isn't the best helper. If she tries to explain something she usually is talking about something different just a half minute after she started. She always has so much to say.

The day is almost over. We've only got two more lessons left. I'm walking towards my locker to get a few books for the next lesson. It's the first time today I'm going to my locker which is unusual for me because usually I have all my books there but not this time. I had all the important books at home so that I could do some of the work I've missed.

I open my locker and put in a few books and take out the ones I'll need. When I am about to close my locker I notice a note on the bottom. I pick it up and am just about to read it but the bell rings informing me that I have to hurry if I want to make it in time to the next lesson. I put the note between one of the books I have in my hands and shut and lock my locker.

I make it just in time to the lesson. I quickly walk inside and seat myself next to Lauren.

"You have no idea what I found in my locker." I quickly whisper to her.

"Wha-" Lauren starts ask but is cut off by our English teacher giving her a pointed look.

"Everyone shut up and take your notebooks and pencils. Today you will be writing a story about a day in the life of an animal, from the animal's perpective. And no talking!" She says calmly which is actually quite scary. A few people groan but most just starts to do the assignment. I like it when we have to write something. Words kinda just flow through me to my hand to the pencil and finally to the paper. Our English teacher is very strict about the 'no talking'. If someone talks she or hi has to go to the front of class and just stand there until the lesson is over and then they have to leave behind when everyone else can leave and they might even get detention if they have done it more than two times.

"So what did you find?" Lauren whispers.

"Shh! I don't want us to get in trouble. I'll tell you later. It's totally not worth getting in trouble for." I see dissapointment in her eyes.

"Fine." She mutters and turns back to her notebook.

It's the end of the day and I'm waiting for Lauren and Alex to come out from school so we can go to us. I'm again, big surprise, reading a book. What? Is it that bad to nearly always read? I don't think so. Most people do that. I think.

"I heard you got a note today." I hear Lucy's voice behind me.

"How did you find out?" I close my book as Lucy sits down next to me.

"Lauren told us. Who is it from? What does it say?" She sounds and seems very intrested which makes me laugh a little.

"I don't know yet. I haven't opened it yet."

"What? Why? How can you not have? I would die of curiosity!"

"I don't know. I actually had forgot about it until you reminded me just a few seconds ago."

"What?" Lucy blinks twice. "How. Could. You. Forget. A. Note. You. Found. In. Your. Locker? And you don't even know who sent it!"

"I don't know. I just did. I found it just about two hours ago." I say as if that would explain why I haven't read it.

"Hi Lucy!" Alex walks out through the school doors holding Lauren's hand.

"Hi Alex, Lauren! I should go, mum is probably waiting for me. Bye Ivy! Bye Alex, Lauren!" Lucy gets up and walks towards the parking lot.

"Should we go? I'm dying to know what the note says. This little munchkin said that she will read it first when she's at home." Lauren whines pulling me up from where I was sitting.

"Not long anymore before you get to hear what it says." I offer her an apologetic smile.

"Hurry!"

We talk about the most random things ever on our way over to my house. That's one of the reasons probably why she is my best friend. We can talk about the most random thing in the whole universe and still understand each other. And even enjoy it. And Alex is always interested in what we talk about.

When we arrive at my house I take my key out and open the door.

"I'll make something for us to eat before I read the note." I walk to the kitchen.

"No. You read it now." Lauren demands.

"No way. I'm way too hungry to think right now. I'll quickly eat something. And I think you two should also eat something." In reality I'm not hungry at all which doesn't surprise me but I don't want to read the note really yet. Anything that can delay it is something I want to do. I don't know what it is. I guess I'm a bit scared of what it may contain.

But finally I can't put it off any longer. There is nothing I can do anymore. And my own curiosity is beginnig to feel like too much so I walk over to my school bag and take it from where I had put it between two pages of a book. I read it first in my head.

"So what does it say?" Lauren asks after a short silence after I finnished reading it.

AN:
I left you on a cliffhanger again. What do you think about that?

I'm so sorry! It's almost a week since I last updated. Bad me, bad bad me. But I'm on summer vacation now (have been since saturday, ooops) so I'll try to update more often.

It would be very nice and important to hear your opinions. Thanks for reading!
