Ivy's POV
When I wake up the next morning my phone is full of messages. I read them and end up with a plan that me and my friends are going over to Nick's today to hang out and have fun since his parents and older siblings are out of town for the weekend. That means Lucy will be there too. Which means Chris will be a stammering blushing mess. This day will be fun.
The thought of Nick brings back memories of last night when he walked me home and what he said to me before leaving me alone and confused on my doorstep. He couldn't be that guy from a year back, could he?
About an hour later I find myself ringing Nick's doorbell with Lauren standing next to me talking about something I haven't listened to at all. Nick opens the door and smiles warmly at us. He invites us in telling us we're the last to arrive. Lauren walks in shouting a happy greeting to the other guys when they come into the hall. I walk in and as I pass Nick he quickly grabs my hand and gives it a squeeze.
We are all sitting in the living room playing Trivial Pursuit when Lucy comes down. She looks like she has just woken up.
"Hi guys." She mumbles and rubs her eyes sleepily. She has a big shirt and sweatpants on and looks really comfy. I'm happy I had chosen a comfy flannel to put on today since everyone else has comfy clothes too. "Can I join you?" Lucy asks and Chris immediately nods a bit too enthusiastically which makes me chuckle.
"Of course, come sit between me and Chris." I pat the spot next to me and Chris scoots over so that she fits just perfectly next to him. Lucy smiles and sits down. "You wanna play with us? None of us really know anything but it's fun to try." I laugh and Lucy nods.
"Why not!" We resume playing and it ends up with everyone choking on their laughter since no one knows anything but we have loads of fun.
The day goes by quickly and we have lots of fun playing and making food. Chris and Lucy have been basically glued to each other, even more than Lauren and Alex! Lauren says Andrew and Nick have been flirting with me the entire day but I don't know, I wouldn't notice even if the really did.
Sadly the fun gets interrupted when I hear my phone ring. All of us have tried to ignore our phones so that they wouldn't distract us but I have a feeling that it's important that I pick up this call. And my gut was correct.
"Hi!" I answer Mimosa.
"Hello Ivy! I know that you're at your friend Nick's house right now. I called to warn you. The king has gone mad. I, on behalf of the queen, forbid you and your friends to leave that house. If any of you do, it will put you in great danger. I have trimmed this call so all your friends that are magicals can hear what I'm saying right now too. Please do as I say. I need to end this call now but please promise me." Mimosa sounds so panicked that I can't do anything else than to do as she wants.
"I promise."
"Good. Bye my dear." I hear the click that indicates that the call has ended and feel a bit shaken.
"Hey guys!" Nick gets everyone's attention. "What do you say about a sleepover? My parents and older siblings are away at least until Monday so me and Lucy have the entire house for our selves. It could be a nice way to end your stay, wouldn't it?" I feel grateful that Nick took the responsibility of this problem.
"That sounds like a grate plan!" Dan answers enthusiastically. "But shouldn't we all go home and get our stuff that we need?" I feel a paper in my hand and look down. Since when were I holding a note? I read it and first I feel shocked but then my face lights up.
"Everything has been taken care of. There should be two boxes on the balcony that contain everything we need." I say to the others. The look at me questiongly but I simply wave my hand walking towards the balcony door. "Come on! Our families have also been informed already. There is nothing we need to worry about except that we can't leave the house for the next twenty-four hours. There is some dangerous rebells putting stuff on fire on the streets and it's not safe to leave the houses." I couldn't tell them that the king had sent ards after me trying to kill me and that the ards were vandalizing the city as I spoke.
"Well I guess f everything has been taken care of then it's just for us to have a nice evening and enjoy our stay." Chris is as cheerful as ever and opens the balcony door.
