Ivy's POV
The coronation went well, I didn't mess up what I had to say and I didn't trip on my cape or lovely gown. I felt empowered to tell the truth. Now we're celebrating, having fun, to honor my coronation and the fact that we got the awful old king away from the throne.
The biggest of the ballrooms is decorated with simple but gorgeous ribbons, flowers and fabrics. In one end of the giant room stands tables where we are all sitting and the food is currently being brought to us. I'm sitting in a small table with the old queen that is on a small podium, slightly higher up than the other tables. When everyone have food infront of them the don't start eating and I realize they're waiting for me to say something. I stand up (thankfully I got to take off my cape already) and take my crystal glass in my right hand.
"Thank you to all of you for being here on this special day. I know I'm young and might not be the most experienced person to get a ... a kingdom? Should I call it that?" I manage to get small laughs here and there. I smile. "I might not be the most experienced person to get a kingdom to rule and so I've decided that I will give the power back to the old queen until I get married. When I do marry she will still be by my side at all times, helping me with anything and everything." I shoot a quick smile to the queen. I look up again. "I will do my utmost to become a worthy ruler and I will try my best to be righteous and equal to everyone and I will try to sort out the messes the old king had made. But tonight we shall all enjoy ourselves and have fun!" I raise my glass and everyone follows suit.
Later that evening when I'm talking and laughing with Lauren, Lucy and Ann, Awa suddenly comes up to the table we're sitting around.
"Your highness, I was asked to give you this note." Awa gives it to me and I quickly fold it open.
"This will be the last note you will get.
Please, meet me in the gardens outside. I have something I want to show you.
P.S. throw away this note."
I mumble the words to myself and wonder who could have written this.
"I'm sorry girls, I have to go. I'll catch you later." I stand up and the girls smile and nod.
I walk out through the big open glass doors out to the gardens. I walk to the fountain and sit down on the edge, admiring the beautiful creatures that swim around under the water and the lovely flowers the bloom just above the surface. The sun has already set but a warm purple glow illuminates the sky.
"You showed up. Thank you." The familiar voice makes me jump in surprise and I almost lose my balance but steady arms get a hold of my waist before I fall into the pond.
"Thanks for catching me." I smile up at Nick. Why have I been avoiding him again? I really can't remember the reason.
"You look stunning. You will be an amazing queen." He smiles with so much warmth I can physically feel it warm me. I feel myself starting to blush. "You're even more breathtaking than before. How do you manage to do that? By blushing you look even cuter than you naturally are. And this dress really suits you." I can't stop smiling like a madman and I feel my cheeks getting warmer for every word he speaks. I look down in embarrassment but I feel his hand on my cheek and he lifts my face back towards his. And he surprises me with a soft kiss. It was too short. Get a grip Ivy, he had something he wanted to show.
"You wanted to show me something?" Nick takes a step back as if he would have forgotten what he was doing.
"Yeah. I umm..." He searches his pockets for something. "The queen gave me this. She said everything would be explained once I showed it to you. She said you know this box and what's inside of it?" He phrased it as a statement but it sounded more like a question. He shows me the box and he's right. I know that box, I was the one who retrieved it. How has the queen gotten her hands on it? That's not important.
"I don't know what it contains." I state. Nick holds his hand out so that I can take the box from him. But when my fingers touch the thin golden letters L.C. the box suddenly opens by itself to reveal something I'm pretty sure all mysteries before me have gotten during the three years following their coronation. Both me and Nick gasp at their beauty. I look up at him with a shocked but happy expression and I notice it matches his.
"Do you...?" He trails off, not knowing how to continue the question. But I know what he means anyway and I nod and he kisses me again.
