With the beginning of the investigation, Briar and her friends, including Riddle, Cater, Ace, and Deuce. They've arrived at the Hall of Mirrors. They soon walk through one of the mirrors that lead to the other dorms. The dorm they're walking through has the dorm symbol on top with a purple flame torch on each side of the wall. They are also crystal prisms. And the mirror is decorated by a peacock with long and elegant feathers. They all walk through the mirror and reach the other side to the Pomefiore Dorm.

Briar and the others are amazed to see the dorm, it actually looks a lot like a mansion. They walk inside and to the lounge of the door. Of course, they remain quiet and diligent since it's an investigation.

Cater says, "Let's start here, at Pomefiore. There's a junior named Rook Hunt who's caught my eye. He has a blond bob cut and a fedora—you can't miss him."

"Rook is an exceptional player. He performed extremely well in last year's tournament. But he is a bit of an...odd duck, one might say," Riddle replies.

"Odd duck?" Tanzantie says, confused.

Before Riddle can answer, Deuce asks, "Oh, is that him sitting over there?"

The group looks ahead to see three students. Briar recognizes one of them to be Vil, the housewarden of Pomefiore. The second is the short purple haired student she remembers from the cafeteria. His name is Epel Felmier.

The last student is suspected to be Rook Hunt. He's taller-than-average young man with fair skin. His mid-length hair is cut in a bob style, with straight-cut bangs. His eyes are green, and he often wears brown winged eyeliner. He is wearing black gloves, and a wide-brimmed hat with a large feather on top.

All of them seem to be wearing the school uniform of the school, but also wear purple vests, and purple and red ribbons on their arm with their dorm symbol. Their magepens are also purple as well. They also seem very elegant and sparkling.

Ace is just as shocked, "Whoa. That dude's, like, a glitter bomb in human form. He's basically sparkling."

Briar whispers, "Hey, do you want them to hear us?"

Ace remains silent.

Hey hear Rook talk to Epel, "Non, Epel, non. When you lift your teacup, do not insert your finger through the handle. It is most inélégant."

"Oh... Right. I'm sorry," Epel apologizes.

Vil sighs, "I just cannot decide how I want to do my makeup on tournament day! I'm thinking maybe that new foundation from Felicity Cosmetics?"

"Oh ho ho! Mon belle Vil, the Roi du Poison..." Rook says, "Surely your beauté is not so faint that you need makeup to shine?"

"Of course I don't. But I don't dare miss an opportunity to accentuate it further!" Vil says.

"I admire that passion. Magnifique! Très magnifique!" Rook replies.

Seeing the kind of person Rook is, Briar, Grim, and the others are baffled about it.

"Uhhhhh... And you're sayin' this guy is some kinda incredible athlete?" Grim asks. "Somehow, I doubt he's gonna be the target."

"Well, he doesn't seem to look like it, but he must be good if he's a good player," Sereia says.

"Yeaaah, maybe we should peace out and move on," Cater replies.

After that, everyone heads to the courtyard to check out the other athletes playing in the tournament. Of course, they remain hidden in the bushes a short distance away. From the well.

"Next on Cay-Cay's big list of potential targets are Jade Leech and his twin brother Floyd. They're both sophomores at Octavinelle House," Cater says, "Word is, they work so well together on the field that other teams don't know how to counter them."

The group looks to see the twins, Floyd and Jade, who are twin brothers.

Floyd has fair skin and a height considerably taller than his peers. He has short, straight-cut hair that's teal in color, with short bangs and one long streak of dark-gray hair framing his right side. His eyes have complete heterochromia, with his right eye being yellow, and his left eye being olive-brown. He is also wearing one earring on his right ear, with three teal diamonds dangling off of it. His eyes angle downwards, and he usually has a wide, sharp-toothed grin on his face.

As for Jade, he's like a mirror of his twin brother. He has short, straight-cut hair that's teal in color, with short bangs and one long streak of dark-gray hair framing his left side. His eyes have complete heterochromia, with his left eye being yellow, and his right eye being olive-brown. Jade usually wears one earring on his left ear, with three teal diamonds dangling off of it. His eyes angle upwards, and he usually has a polite smile on his face. His teeth, when shown, are sharp.

Their outfit seems different as well. Jade has his white shirt button up and has a neck tie. Meanwhile, Floyd's button up shirt is open on the top and isn't wearing a bow tie or necktie, his blazer is also not buttoned as well.

"Whoa! They have, like, the exact same face!" Grim says, surprised.

Then turns to Tanzanite and Jasper, "Way different than how you two are?"

"Well, twins can come different depending on the parents and how they're born. We may be twins, but we're fraternal twins," Tanzanite says.

"What does that mean?" Sereia asks.

"That means that even though we're born as twins, we don't look the same," Jasper says.

Then turns to see Floyd and Jade, "But they're practically identical twins, but they seem to have different traits and personalities."

"Is it just me, or do they make all the other students look tiny in comparison? They're giants!" Ace asks, surprised.

"I could see that being a big advantage for 'em," Grim adds.

Then Deuce asks, "So what do we think? Could they be in danger?"

"I don't know about that. If I were the culprit, I'd save them for last. Just look at those two. I wouldn't want to get anywhere near them—especially Floyd," Riddle says.

"Floyd? Why?" Briar asks.

Riddle is about to answer, but a familiar voice interrupts him, "Oh ho ho! What is UP, Lil' Goldfish?"

Riddle flinches as he and the others look up to see Floyed right in front of the bushes where they're hiding.

Riddle flinches, "Bwah! He spotted us!"

With a grin on his face, Riddle asks, "What brings you to our humble abode, huh? Playing hide-and-seek? Sounds like fun."

"F-Floyd... I've asked you several times to stop calling me by strange nicknames," Riddle says, trying to remain calm.

"But you're so small and red! How are you NOT a goldfish?" Riddle replies.

Confused, Briar asks, "Did Floyd just call Riddle Goldfish?"

"This guy seems like he's a few cans short of a tuna casserole," Grim replies.

Just then, Floyd notices Grim, "A talking cat? Now THAT'S something you don't see every day! Can I squeeze you 'til you pop?"

Grim becomes frightened, "Uh, no?! Stay away from me, weirdo!"

And hides behind Briar. Sereia, and Trinket do the same, frightened by Floyd's height and grin on his face.

And then Jade walks over, "My, it would appear a contingent from Heartslabyul House has paid us a little visit. Here to assess the competition in advance of the Spelldrive tournament, perhaps?

"Nah. We...can't really go into it, though," Cater says, nervously.

"We take a dim view of spying at Octavinelle. I would ask you to justify your actions, suspicious as they are. And please, spare no detail," Jade replies calmly, but his eyes seem malicious.

Ace sees it and worriedly says, "This guy sure talks fancy, but man, his eyes are stone cold."

"Man, would you look at the time? Gotta run, guys! It's been real! Byeee!" Cater says.

And with that, everyone dashed off. Floyd and Jade look at each other and soon begin to follow the group.
