If I could turn back time
for real, this time
maybe I'd go back to the day
when you ran across the empty road
and looked back at me,
the wind in your hair
the sun shined too bright that day,
I couldn't even see you.
I could feel myself get breathless
as I ran to catch up to you,
but I couldn't.
You laughed; you had
such a pretty smile
but you came
to help me back up.
Just, where did we go wrong?
I can still see you running,
I can feel my panted breaths
I still can't catch up to you,
why aren't you coming back?
I have so much to tell you..
I ran and ran and ran
but you kept fading away,
I wish you could have
listened to me, one last time.
I still turn back time,
to the day you ran with the wind
but I wish,
I could do it for real.
Just once, please?
