The next day at dinner, the five boys had been seated again at the Slytherin table.
"Oh yeah? Then what'd you tell her mate?" Johnathan yawned as he asked Mathew.
Something told the rest of the world that Johnathan sometimes found Mathew and his talking to be quite boring.
"Told her she shouldn't be so uptight, and she should just give in." He snorted, taking a bite of his dinner. "Then that daft woman Pince had to come and interrupt us." He told the story bitterly.
"Like there was ever anything to interrupt. Y/n's just not interested in you." Theo scoffed as he ripped a piece of bread in half.
"She's just hard to get." Mathew replied.
Blaise snorted.
"Something you want to say, Zabini?" Mathew narrowed his eyes to Blaise who sat in front of him.
Blaise hesitated for a second before he opened his mouth. "Draco has more chance with Y/n than you do, and that's saying something, since he's so quiet."
Johnathan choked on his water.
"What?" Mathew and Draco managed to say at the same time.
Draco glared at him.
"No offence, Draco." Blaise rubbed his back.
"No offence to Draco again," Mathew eyed him. "But he couldn't get a girlfriend if he tried. He's too quiet shy."
"Shut up, Callist." Draco put his fork down.
"What? It's true anyways, is it not?" Mathew asked the group. Draco bit his tongue.
"Be quiet mate." Theo told him quietly.
"Why should I be? I'm not scared." Mathew scoffed. They earned a few stares.
The group remained quiet.
Johnathan coughed. "That potions paper was really—"
"—you don't want a problem with me." Draco threatened Mathew.
"I have an idea." Mathew smiled. "Afraid of an easy and harmless bet, Malfoy?"
He only stared back at him. Draco sat up from his slumped position.
"Whoever can take her out and kiss her first wins. 3 weeks." Mathew said, pulling three fingers up.
Theo grimaced. "God you're disgusting."
"What do you have to do these days anyway? You're almost always lonely. Some competition will do you good." Mathew ignored Theo's remark, only staring at Draco now.
Draco almost wanted to take out his wand and jinx him, and he was close to. Mathew Callist didn't deserve any of his time and Draco had become often regretful of ever giving it to him.
But the old Draco Malfoy was still inside him. It was all he knew.
"Fine." He grid his teeth.
Mathew chuckled, giving a look to Johnathan. "Don't be so angry, Malfoy. It's simply harmless. No one will be hurt." He smiled.
Theo and Blaise stared at Draco, and as always, he avoided their stare.
"Whoever loses simply has bragging rights, and the loser buys the winner the latest broom." Mathew took out his hand for Draco to shake. Draco only looked at it, not shaking it.
He slid his plate away and got up, stepping over his seat and walking off towards the Slytherin common room.
Theo and Blaise didn't follow him this time.
As he was thinking whether or not he was disappointed at that fact, his eyes caught someone sitting in the leather armchair in the corner.
They were curled up, reading a book, with their dinner plate in front of them on the small coffee table.
He kept walking on as he stared at her, and Y/n stared back at the last moment, before he turned away and walked up to his room.

"Are you mad?" Blaise asked him in the morning over breakfast.
Draco shook his head.
Theo sighed. "Well now that that's dealt with, what do you think your approach will be?"
"Approach for what?" Draco gave him a confused look.
"To win the bet?"
"I'm losing that on purpose."
Blaise choked a little, slamming a hand on the table. "Why?" He asked.
He only shrugged. "I just accepted it without thinking."
"Listen, he'll never let you live it down if he wins!" Theo urged.
"He's not going to win. Haven't you heard him trying to talk to her all week? It's all he ever bloody complains about." Blaise told Theo.
"And that's why Draco has a good chance at winning. He's not so needy like Callist."
Draco rolled his eyes. "Are you guys done talking about me?" He ate a piece of toast.
"No, not really." Theo answered. Draco sighed quietly.
Blaise hesitated a bit before he opened his mouth. He didn't remember the last time Draco was like himself, or happy. He didn't remember the last time they had fun. So, he had a plan.
"Let's goto Hogsmeade tomorrow. It's Saturday."
Theo gave him a look.
"Okay." Draco shrugged. Theo now gave a look to Draco.
"What about the bet—" Theo whispered to Blaise.
"Just trust me."
"Fine." Theo leaned back his hands in surrender.

Blaise had escaped his friends after dinner and quickly walked to the library.
"Y/n, I was looking for you!" He called from across the library.
"Yes, Blaise?" She answered as she turned around.
"Tomorrow is Saturday," he started as he walked behind her.
She didn't reply. "So I was wondering if you'd like to come to Hogsmeade with us."
She turned around raising a brow. "Who is us?"
"Theo, Draco," he paused. "I don't know if Callist and Wheeler will be there though." He grimaced.
She suddenly gained an annoyed expression. "If Callist is there then I won't go."
"Fine, just swing by and I'll buy you a drink. No need to hangout around us." He tried.
She smiled. "I like free things Blaise. I'll swing by."
"Perfect. See you!" He waved as he jogged away.
"No running in the library Mr Zabini!"
"Sorry Madam Pince!" He grimaced as he walked out.
