Theo had now approached them an hour later, and all Draco and Y/n had done in that time was steal glances from one another.
Theo gave a small smile to Blaise as they looked at Draco. He was trying to fend off a girl that his mother had brought over to him.
"Stop touching me." Draco deadpanned as he moved her hand away from his chest for the fifth time.
She pouted. "But you're just so good looking. You can touch me if you want," she whispered as she grabbed his hand and inched it towards her chest. He grimaced as he snatched his hand away.
"Go away.." Draco muttered, crossing his arms and turning away. He heard the girl make a noise of disappointment and walk off.
"That's annoying." Theo said.
"Tell me about it."
"Well, finally," Blaise spoke up, trying to get Draco's attention as he talked to Theo. "The dancing is starting."
Theo coughed.
"That's my queue." He said. He walked off, giving his drink to Blaise.
Blaise rolled his eyes and gave the drink to a floating tray that came by.
Draco smiled and looked at Blaise. "Fourth times the charm?" He asked, referring to Daphne Greengrass.
"She won't want to dance with me now after what we did to L/n," he mumbled.
"But you don't want to break your streak." Draco said.
"Yeah, and you also have the streak of not being able to dance with someone." Blaise pat him on the shoulder as he turned away towards Daphne. Draco rolled his eyes, and they landed on Y/n again.
He saw Mathew Callist trying to make his way towards her through the crowds and he acted quickly. Suddenly, he was more alert than ever.
"Draco? Where are you going?" His mother asked.
"To dance—"
"But you never—"
"—bye, mother," he quickly made his way through the crowds, trying to not push over anyone. He reached her before Mathew did, and he was forever thankful.
"Y/n,"
"Malfoy." She was surprised, but gave him a cold stare. He looked back to Mathew who glared, then back to Y/n.
He tried to be confident. "Dance with me," he took his hand out.
"No!" She denied him quietly. She looked shocked that he would ever ask her that.
"Do you really want Callist to come and ask you instead?" He moved a little to his right so she was able to see the glare Mathew held.
When he looked back to Mathew again, it was evident that Draco had won. Mathew had to screw the hell off now, and he knew it.
She was thinking. "Has anyone told you that you look great tonight?" He asked.
She sighed, putting her cup on a floating tray.
She took his hand to his surprise.
He grasped it, afraid she would change her mind. He didn't miss the opportunity to kiss it. "You don't have to lie, I'm only doing this to escape Callist. And it would be rude to deny a dance of the host."
He led her over to the middle of the floor, passing Mathew who fumed.
Everyone had already started dancing with their own partners. Her hand went to rest on his shoulder, and his hand went to her waist. He knew how to dance— he was glad his mother had forced him into lessons. They started moving around gracefully.
