All he could do in class was stare at her, discreetly. The last thing he wanted to do was come off creepy, or distasteful.
Though she never glanced at him that once, he was content with the one second glances he would receive from her.
Her eyes were great to look at, even better when they were focused on him.
After classes he was still busy with homework to his disappointment, and after dinner he still had more reading to do. Although, he tried finishing half of it at dinner, much to his friends' suspicion.
After he finally finished his last bit of work, he didn't bother packing up his desk as he opened the door to his dorm ready to go to the library.
"Where are you going this late?" Theo asked as he turned in his chair, taking his black reading glasses off. Blaise turned in his chair also.
"To the library, forgot a book there, bye!" He ran out before they could say anything and slammed the door.
He walked towards the library and opened the door, immediately walking to his usual isle.
His eyes scanned the shelf and he quickly took the new 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' book off the shelf, walking to the counter.
No one was behind the counter and he was about to go look around if it wasn't for the back door opening. Y/n exited it and closed the door behind her. She still hadn't seen him. He took a deep breath as he anticipated for her to turn around and she did. She stepped back in surprise and had almost tripped backwards if it wasn't for the door handle catching her.
"Oh— are you alright?" Draco asked, leaning over.
"Yeah—" she grunted as she stood up straight and walked to the counter. She tucked her hair over her shoulders. He put the book down on the table and slid it over.
"Oh," she said quietly, taking the book and opening to the back page. She barely looked up at him.
Draco debated whether or not he should start talking. He rested and leaned his arms on the counter. She still hadn't met his eyes as she grabbed a quill from the drawer and slid it over to him. He signed, and then handed out the quill to her by the feather, but when she tried taking it, he didn't let go. She finally met his eyes and he was content.
"Yesterday, you kissed—"
"—yes I did didn't I?" She cut him off nervously. "I mean it was the least I could do since you didn't want your money back." She continued quietly. Their fingers still held the quill and she tried pulling it again but he still held it.
He only looked up at her as response and she returned by looking at him. He didn't know what to say.
"Sorry—" she cut herself off. "Sorry if I was out of line."
He pulled the quill towards him a little and she leaned forward.
"I liked it so I can't complain." He admitted.
"Oh, you did?" She swallowed.
"Yes." He replied almost immediately. His tone held honesty.
His fingers slowly made their way to touch hers. He looked away from her face to their hands as he delicately intertwined his fingers with her own, causing them both to drop the quill down on the table. She complied and the tips of her fingers fit with his perfectly. His lips parted in concentration as he stared at their fingers together.
"But I still want you to take it back."
He let go and took a breath as he leaned off the counter and stood up. Now he was looking down at her hands that rested over the book so delicately.
"Do you regret it or something?"
Did she finally realise that he was what she hated? A death eater?
"Oh," she paused, not looking at him as she closed the book and opened the draw, putting the quill inside. She did it with shaking hands. "I didn't need to be paid to do what I did. I would have done it nonetheless. You did a nice thing for me, taking me to Hogsmeade and all."
"Oh." He swallowed, looking around frantically. Her confidence to admit such a thing made him nervous but thankful.
When he looked back to her she looked up at him with a blank but nervous stare. It was only for a second as suddenly the door opened behind her from the back room and Madam Pince exited, walking next to Y/n behind the counter.
"Alright, finish up here dear and close the library. I have matters to attend to."
"Oh— yes of course Madam Pince," Y/n stuttered, sliding the book over to Draco and turning away to start packing up elsewhere. Madam Pince had smiled at her and walked off.
Draco had quickly picked up the book and walked out.
When he exited and closed the door behind him, he sighed. When he reached his dorm and closed the door behind him, he sighed even louder.
"You look so pale, what happened?" Theo asked.
Blaise chuckled without turning around. "What do you mean? He's always pale—" he turned around to look at Draco and his eyes widened. He looked at him from head to toe.
"Wow, what happened to you?" Blaise smirked as he looked him up and down. Draco didn't answer as he made his way to the bathroom.
"Y/n probably gave him another kiss." Theo answered.
Draco had heard him and scoffed quietly. He then turned on the tap and washed his face.
"Really?" Blaise asked. Draco had now exited and went to his bed.
"Why are you so shocked?" Theo asked Blaise.
"He hooked up with someone? I don't think so." Blaise said.
"Shut up." Draco said as he laid down on his bed.
Blaise put his hands up in surrender and turned back to his desk.
Theo had gotten up and made his way to Draco. Draco stared at him. "So, what happened with Y/n?"
Draco turned away from him, turning off his lamp. He heard Theo sigh dramatically and walk off.
