I sighed as I wondered what I wanted to do. Today was Spookie Day and I never really celebrated it before or with anyone for that matter.
But that was going to change. Not by my choice though.
There was a party going on at the outdoor theater. Where all birds and even pigs could come. And a certain bird wanted me to go with our group.
I heard a knock at my door and opened it to see Chuck, my best friend and secretly my crush, standing on the other side, "Hey! Happy Spookie Day! I brought costumes!" He said in his singing voice.
Chuck reached over and dragged over a large tote bag, filled to the brim with costumes.
"Gosh, Chuck! Did you buy out the whole costume store?!" I laughed as I dragged the tote bag inside my home for him.
Chuck walked inside and closed the door behind him, "What? No, that's ridiculous! I only bought out half the store."
I rolled my eyes, letting out another laugh, "Pft, like that's any better."
"Well, I wanted to make sure you got all the options." He said as he grinned widely at me.
I dug my wing inside the tote bag and pulled out a...very erotic-looking costume. I glanced over at Chuck with an amused eyebrow raise.
He began smiling sheepishly, "Uh, I kind of just grabbed anything."
I shook my head and threw the costume to the side, as I dug through the tote bag I asked Chuck a question, "What are you dressing up as?"
"Probably as candy corn." He shrugged.
I burst out laughing, "Candy corn?"
Chuck seemed to be playfully taken aback, "Yes, candy corn is the best!"
"It's alright." I chuckled.
He did a dramatic gasp, "How dare you!"
"It's not even--"
"Talk to the wing."
I just had to shake my head and giggle at his ridiculousness for his love of candy corn.
As I started pulling some costumes out, Chuck spoke up, "Or, I was also thinking that maybe we could wear matching costumes."
I glanced up at Chuck, "Matching costumes?"
"Y-yeah! If you want to."
I beamed at him and nodded, "Yes! That sounds like a good idea!"

Chuck wanted to be funny and decided that he was going to dress up as a dill pickle and I was going to dress up as a doe.
"When I was thinking about matching costumes, I didn't imagine this." I sighed in amusement.
Chuck laughed, "I think it's great!"
I glanced at my mirror and looked at Chuck, feeling a bit embarrassed, "Do I look stupid?"
"What?! No! I think you look adorable." He smiled softly, Chuck then gestures at himself, "I mean, look at me! I'm a dill pickle. Cause, y'know, I'm a big 'dill'."
I let out a cackle, "I should have seen that one coming!"
We now waited for our group. I heard a knock at the door, I assumed it was them, finally arriving at my house. I opened the door and saw their outfits, making me smile. Red was dressed up as a zombie, Bomb was Frankenstein, and Silver was a vampire.
Chuck came up behind me, grabbed my shoulders, and jumped with excitement, "You guys look great! Let's go!"
As we were walking to the party, Silver asked about our costumes. And well, Chuck was a bit enthusiastic about it and vaguely told her about the meaning of our outfits.
Red shook his head, it seemed like he understood the meaning of it while Silver and Bomb were a bit clueless.
It didn't take too long for us to finally arrive at the party. There were music and lights. I also noticed many birds, including eagles, as well as pigs in costumes. Everyone was either dancing, just talking with each other, or just hanging around.
Chuck grabbed my wing and dragged me to the dance floor. He let go and started to dance around me. I started to laugh and danced to the beat of the music. After a good few songs, Chuck and I decided to take a break and talk to some other birds. And of course, talk about our costumes. We also ate some food and chatted for a bit.
We decided to go back to the dance floor as our favorite song came up. As I continued to dance, having the time of my life, Chuck tapped me on the shoulders, getting my attention. I glanced over at him and cocked my head to the side.
"It's almost time for trick-or-treating! Want to go?" Chuck was holding two buckets one black and one orange.
I scratched my head as I thought about it, "Trick-or-treating? Isn't that a bit childish?"
Chuck gasped, "You could never be too old for trick-or-treating! Besides, who's to say it's only for children anyways?"
I sighed with a smile, "Yeah, yeah, I guess you're right." I reached out and grabbed one of the buckets, "Let's go!"
We both headed into the village. Ever since the eagles moved in there were a lot more houses than usual. It also meant that we got a lot of candy as well, but it took us almost an hour to hit every single house. Of course, Chuck could have done it in two minutes flat but unfortunately, I'm not as fast as him.
Once we collected all the candy we decided to go back to my house and see what we have gathered. Sitting on the floor, Chuck and I dumped out all our candy.
"This was so much fun, Chuck! I'm so glad we got to do this!" I grinned at him.
Chuck smiled at me, "Well, I'm glad you enjoyed Spookie Day like you should."
I let out a soft chuckle, "Yeah."
There was a little bit of comfortable silence between us until Chuck spoke up, "Hey, I need to tell you something."
I looked up at Chuck, "Sure! What's up?"
"You know, I wanted to let you know that I...I liked you for a while and I guess you could say," Chuck trailed off and handed me a candy, "I'm a 'sucker' for you."
I stared at the candy and back at Chuck. I started to feel flustered and giggled uncontrollably as I covered my face. I glanced down at the pile of candy and grabbed a round gumball and handed it to Chuck, "Well, I'm glad because I 'chews' you."
The yellow bird grinned widely as he grabbed the gum from me, "Wait, so that means...youlikemetoo?!"
I nodded enthusiastically. Chuck squealed in excitement and hugged me, making me laugh.
"Ooh! You know what will be fun?" Chuck asked me as he pulled back from the hug.
"Watching a scary movie?" I guessed with a grin.
Chuck nodded, "Yes! That was exactly what I was thinking."
I gasped with excitement, "I'll get the blankets! You get the movie started!"
I ran into my room and grabbed all of the blankets I had available. I went back to the living room and saw Chuck looking through the scary movies.
We made ourselves comfortable underneath the soft blankets and Chuck finally picked a horror movie. We began to snuggle and hold each other tightly as we enjoyed the rest of Spookie Day night together.
