"What the fuck? You locked him up?!"

"I'm not the one who locked him up!" Elena defended, putting her hands in the air and raising her eyebrows as if it would quench the angered look on Aurora's face at the moment.

"Excuse me?" Damon said, strutting into the conversation, "You helped. Listen, Bambi, I couldn't have him running around chewing on people. While the town was looking for vampires, now, could I?"

"So it had nothing with you actually caring for him?" The Lockwood asked incredulously.

"That's you guys' thing, not mine...?"

Damon and Elena soon went upstairs after observing Stefan as if he were some animal in a zoo, leaving Aurora alone to entertain the lion after accidentally entering his lair. She decided to just stay silent for now and wait for him to say something first, considering the state that he was in at the moment; tensed veins visible on his arms, his jaw clenching and unclenching, his hair dishevelled and messy, his eyes red-rimmed. Even when he was distressed, he was still mesmerising.

She sat on the other side of the door, playing with the shoelaces on her converses. It wasn't until a few minutes of silence with only the sound of his heavy breathing until he spoke, "It's better that I'm in here." He rasped.

"Why do you say that?" She murmured back.

"I made a mistake, years ago. I shouldn't...I don't want to survive, Aurora." Stefan trembled slightly with his voice.

"Stefan..." She whispered,

"You have to feed to complete the transition, It was a choice I should not have made."

The girl stayed silent for a beat, letting the vampire's words sink in and be etched onto her skin. Scarring her. Blemishing her. marking her.

"Stef, If you died that day...you would have never have experienced all the moments in life that made you smile so hard that your cheekbones hurt, or replayed over and over again. You would have never met the people you think about at night or cling onto because they are your only hope. Your eyes wouldn't have seen the things that they have seen, you would have wasted the potential of a beautiful soul." She drew in a breath, "I wouldn't have met you, I wouldn't have lived at all if it weren't for you living. Trust me, Stefan, I am so glad you are still here."

the air had a stillness that hung about it, which wasn't entirely uncomfortable. Aurora let out a sigh of relief when she heard a rustling sound as he moved across the room. She felt his presence on the other side of the door.

The girl had spent an hour and receiving many countless glares from Damon as she turned his kitchen into a freak show - especially when Elena joined - and all he could do was watch. Aurora was doing what she did best besides reading, struggling to empathise and using baking to make people feel better. However, Elena didn't have the same ability.
