From the top of the steps, the two watched as their parents came home with a doll. Genevieve wasn't dumb, this was Annabelle, and she wanted absolutely nothing to do with her, so she turned around and walked back to her room with Judy following a little after that.
"I just saw Mary Ellen pull. Go and get your things." Lorraine reminded towards her youngest as she came down the stairs with Genevieve in tow.
Frowning at her mother, Genevieve couldn't help but scoff, "I don't see her needing a babysitter when I'm right here. Plus, you two couldn't pick a babysitter that isn't my friend?"
Laughing, Judy ran up the steps forgetting her food on the table. "But first put your cereal in the..." Lorraine tried but got ignored, "Never mind, I'll do it."
"Mom, are you even listening to me?"
Picking up the newspaper underneath the plate, Lorraine frowned but tried to mask it before her daughter could notice which was too late and Ed who had come in and seen her reading it.
A scoff could be heard. "I was listening to you sweetheart!" Lorraine tried but it was too late, since the eldest had moved from the room by then.
Rolling her eyes, Genevieve went to pick up her bag before walking out the door, smiling at Stella who sat in the backseat. She nodded at Mary who walked up the stairs to meet with her parents.
"Party at your house?" Stella questioned again as she tried to get her friend to budge who just shook her head with a laugh, "Ugh.... You suck, I hope Stephanie convinces you!"
Flipping her off, the two watched as Mary and Judy came bounding down the steps with Judy smiling at her sister who watched her sit in the front seat.
Knowing that Judy would need to be dropped off first, the three watched as Judy sat in silence staring towards the school instead of heading towards it. "Judes..." Genevieve muttered to no avail.
"Earth to Judy!" Mary Ellen tried and succeeded as the youngest out of the group looked back. "What's wrong?" She then asked her with the other two looking at her in concern.
Shaking her head, Judy glanced at her sister before speaking, "Nothing." Noticing the looks of concern from all of the others, she nodded, "I'm fine."
"Well, it's just a couple more hours until the weekend..."
Scoffing, Stella threw her head back gesturing how bored she was beginning to get from the conversation. Genevieve nudged her arm in warning knowing that Mary Ellen was just attempting to comfort her sister even though she also was confused to her recent behavior.
"I'm going to run to the market for supplies during my free period." Mary Ellen continued, ignoring the blonde in the back.
Raising a brow, Genevieve couldn't help but add, "We'll be running to market." She knew what the blonde in the front was going to utter next and also added, "We'll all be picking you up after."
"Sounds super," Judy responded with a shrug.
The three watched as Judy got out of the car, not responding but at least waving to the two who wished her a good day. All of them knew something was bothering the younger Warren but it was no use to attempt to force her to talk about it so Genevieve and Mary Ellen would just have to wait for her to come to either of them. Don't get her wrong, Stella was also concerned but she was the kind of person who would just ask you once, what was wrong, before giving up.
The three decided to skip their first period instead of waiting for it to be over for their free period and headed straight for the market.
Well Genevieve and Stella convinced Mary Ellen to skip.
"You know she won't be eating much of it." Genevieve warned as the two friends followed after Mary Ellen who continued to pick out cake ingredients. "I'm serious, she'll eat some but she gets bored of it fast."
Stella looked at her friend with a grin, "No point in telling her this, just let her waste her money on the cake."
Before any of them could speak further, a newspaper was thrusted in front of Mary Ellen's face who flinched before sighing in relief at who had been holding it.
"How could you not tell me what the Warrens did for a living?" Daniela said as her sister who showed up behind her, rolled her eyes. She noticed Stella and Genevieve and smiled before realizing what her sister had just said causing her to pull a face of concern.
Crossing her arms over her chest, Genevieve retorted, "Because it's not your business."
"Amen to that!" Camila spoke as she put her hands up with a grin.
Mary Ellen tried to diffuse the tension that was beginning to grow between Daniela and Genevieve as she turned to Daniela and frowned, "Shouldn't you be in math class?"
"Mary Ellen!"
Scoffing, Genevieve turned around claiming that she'd wait for the blonde at the front while her two closest friends followed after her.
Camila threw her arms around Genevieve's shoulders causing her to stop in her tracks with a laugh. "Now, Gen, Steph said we'd be coming over later. We know your parents aren't home but unlike my sister who's probably forcing her way in, I'm going to ask nicely. Can we come over? Please."
Laughing loudly, Stella pushed Camila slightly before pointing at her, "Since when have you said please!"
"Since she started dating Stephanie," Genevieve said with a slight giggle, "She knows Steph won't tolerate her if she spoke the same as Daniela, not everyone likes aggression." She watched as Stella continued to poke fun at Camila who huffed but was still smiling at the mention of her lover before she spoke again, "Yes you three can come over. I won't even be near Daniela, as long as Mary Ellen keeps her on a leash we'll be fine."
