*POV Laura*
When they got home, all three of them sent all the pictures they had taken over the weekend into the chat I created before we left. I sat down on my sofa with a cup of tea and scrolled through all the photos. I looked closely at each one. Auri had apparently taken some photos of Demi and me without us noticing. In one photo we were sitting on the beach and Demi had her head on my shoulder. The photo was beautiful. Both of us, with the sea and the sunset. It showed what we could be. On the one hand, I was happy that Demi stopped me last night, but on the other hand, I would have liked to have gone a step further. How am I supposed to figure out my feelings about whether I'm into women if I've never been with one? Of course, it wouldn't be fair to take advantage of her or hurt her about it, hence my sympathy for her actions. But when she stopped me yesterday, I thought I screwed it up or that she just didn't want to sleep with me. That her feelings about me weren't what she'd always claimed. The longer I looked at the photo, my doubts came back to me. The picture somehow made it so tangible. What should a relationship between us look like? She has to be touring the country or the world most of the time and I'm either in the office all day or I'm on the road too. And then there is the great distance between us. We always have to fly across the country to see each other. Demi seemed confident about that. The weekend was so nice, I shouldn't make myself miserable with such thoughts. I promise myself not to let my doubts get the better of me. I sent Demi a selfie of us that I took at Universal Studios. "Just looked through all the pictures of us. I Miss you already. It was a great weekend. Was cool to meet your family too." A few minutes later I got an answer "I miss you too. Since you haven't even met the cool part of my family yet. My sister Dallas and my stepdad Eddie are even cooler. I'm excited to meet your family someday." - "I don't think there is anyone in your family who isn't cool. My parents are exactly the opposite, they're rather conservative and boring!" - "I won't believe that until I see it! Hahaha." - "So what are you doing right now?" - "I'm in the gym right now. I have to work off all the food I've eaten in the last few days. I've got some concerts next week and the stage outfits have to fit." - "Oh, Demi, that's not necessary! You have such a beautiful body!" - "Haha thanks <3. But unfortunately, it's necessary. I need to get in shape again. It's a must in my business." - "For me, you are perfect the way you are. I like it when I have something to touch. ;)" - "Thx. I noticed that.;)... You, I should continue now, otherwise, I will my personal trainer will get mad at me. I'll get back to you later." - "Okay, have fun training! See you later :*"
I put my phone down and went to the kitchen. I look in the fridge, which was completely empty. I hadn't shopped anything before flying to LA. I found a bag of ramen noodles and put the water to a boil. I sat back on the couch with my soup and turned on the TV and watched a few episodes of Brooklyn nine-nine. In the late afternoon, Sam called and I told him almost everything that had happened. Of course, I left out the part when Demi and I kissed. But he won't ask me about it either. He had probably spoken to Auri or Rose before and asked for spicy details. In the evening I just went outside and went for a little walk. I kept waiting for a message from Demi, but none came. She was probably still busy. In LA it was still 3 hours earlier than here in New York. I decided to go to bed and turned on a podcast episode of Serial. But unfortunately, I didn't get tired of it. And I wanted to stay up that long and wait for a message from her. So, I decided to clean my apartment. I put on my 90's music playlist and pulled out my vacuum. I rearrange all my furniture so that I can get into every nook and cranny. And let go. With every song, my spirits rose, and I really got into songs like 'What is love' by Haddaway, 'Barbie Girl' by Aqua, or 'Blue' by Eiffel 65, I sang along and occasionally did some dancing with the vacuum cleaner. An hour passed when I was done with it. But still no news from her. So, I decided to wipe it down with a mop as well. With that done, I decided to dust off as well. I was basically doing a spring cleaning. Although it rather slowly fell. Another hour passed. But still no word from her. So, I got into the shower to wash my hair. Even when I was done with it, still no message. It was now half past 12 and I was getting exhausted from all the cleaning. I snuggled down on my bed. I checked my phone one last time, but still nothing. I opened their chat and wrote a message. "I'm going to sleep! I hope you have a nice evening! Good night! :*" I put my phone down and quickly fell asleep.
The next morning, I woke up to a siren wailing in the street. I stretched and stood up. First of all, I made myself a cup of coffee to really wake up. I sat with it at my dining table and looked through all the notifications. I had some emails from Dylan who sent me some details about our video project earlier this morning. There were also some Twitter and Instagram notifications. And a message from Demi. "Hey, sorry. Was busy with some other important things yesterday. I hope you had a nice evening and sleep well." I only got the message 4 hours ago when it was 1.30 am at her place. What had she been doing for so long? But I was glad that she replayed, otherwise I would have worried. "Good morning. Yeah, something like that. I cleaned my whole apartment and then went to sleep. I have to check back into the office today, it seems there are some problems with my last project. Just text me when you wake up or if you have time. Maybe you would like to make a phone call tonight. :) " I got ready and drove to the office to help Dylan. I didn't want to lose a lot of time and spend my vacation in the office. I wanted to get a few things today as I was planning to fly home for a few days tomorrow. It was my mom's birthday on Wednesday, and we wanted to celebrate together.
I ended up spending almost 6 hours in the office, much longer than I thought. Dylan needed a little more help than he wrote, though. We were now completely finished, and he sent our report from the London trip to our boss so that he could publish it. From the office, I immediately went to the mall to look for a present for my mom. After a little searching, I decided on a Kitchen Aid in mint colors. Since my mom was a gifted baker and did most of the kneading by hand, I figured this would be right for her. I lugged the box home and up the stairs to my apartment. When I got to the top, I took off my high heels and my blazer. Exhausted, I flopped down on the sofa and rested for a few minutes. I pulled my phone out of my pocket. Demi had replied to my message from this morning. "Hope it won't be too exhausting! Of course, I'd love to. Just call if it suits you! :)" As soon as I read her message, I called her immediately. It took her a while to answer, but then I heard her voice, and my mood just got a whole lot better. "Hi LJ!" - "Hey Demi!" - "What's up?" she asked, and I could hear in the background that she wasn't alone. "Hey, you said I could call you if it was convenient for me," I said, slightly confused, in response to her question. "Oh yes, of course. I just didn't expect it so soon...." - "Oh, doesn't it suit you right now?" - "No, I mean we are taking a break in the studio. Wait a minute, I'll go out quickly, otherwise, I won't understand a word of what you're saying. Arianna and the others are so loud." A few footsteps could be heard, and a door slammed shut. "So now... tell me how you are?" - "Oh, I'm alright. I was in the office today and we finished our video project, then I went to the mall to ..." - "I stop talking because I on the other hand heard a few voices..." - "Demi? Are you still there?" - "Oh yeah sorry. Keep talking!" - "Well, I was in the mall and got a...!" I hear voices on the other end again and this time I could hear them clearly "Demi come on now we have to go on" I heard a man's voice call out. "Sorry LJ, we have to move on...I'll call you back later." - "Oh, okay... see you..." before I could finish, she hung up.
