* Laura's POV*
After a few minutes of just lying in bed and being upset, I decided to order a pizza. I grab my iPad from my night table order a pizza on Uber eats. Then I changed into my PJs and laid back in bed. Just thinking of today and how different it could have been. A couple's minutes later I heard the doorbell ring. I jumped out of bed and spoke into the intercom and opened the door. I searched for my money and opened the door when it knocked. But there was neither the delivery boy nor my pizza. No, there she was. Looking at my face with sunglasses on. As soon as I saw her, I slammed the door in her face. What the fuck, does she do her? She knocked again. First, I thought, that I shouldn't open the door again, but then I just opened it. "What do you want here, Demi?", I asked annoyed.
"Firstly, hi Laura, nice seeing you again. I thought we would meet up after my concert. I heard you were already in front of my dressing room but left before I could come out to you", she said with a smile on her face. "Well, it looked like you were kinda busy. So, we left." – "Oh, no I wasn't. I've been looking forward to meeting you again all day." - "I was even wondering if you remembered me. You didn't text back. So your invitation comes with a surprise." – "I'm sorry about that. But I had my reasons." – "Yeah, I'm sure about that." Why was she so dismissive? "What do you mean by that?" – "Oh, nothing special." – "Okay, can we go in, so I can explain it to you?" – "I think, that's not a good idea", I said and got angry, the more she spoke. "Why not?", she asked unbelievingly. "Just I said, it's not a good idea. I have my reasons, too." – "Did I do something wrong? I thought were on good terms, the last time we saw each other", she asked with a serious face. "Oh, I think, you should know best. Back in LA, I had a supposition about you, and tonight I got a confirmation about it." – "What the fuck are you talking about Laura?" – "Just the fact that you lied about being sober."
She stared at me like I would have told her someone is dead. Then there was silence for a felt eternity. I couldn't really tell, what she was thinking, because of her glasses. "How did you know?", she asked with a whiny voice. "Does that even matter? Isn't the fact that you're not sober anymore, enough? " – "Please, tell me, how did you find out?" – "Really Demi? Okay, I found a little package in your car, when you were buying our breakfast. Tonight, I noticed, when you were on stage, your behavior was kinda odd. And then I saw you in your dressing room, sniffing something from the table when a random dude opened your door. More proofs, I didn't need it, to figure that out."
As I said that she began crying and slumped on the ground. I make a step forward to protect her from falling. And there we were both sitting on the floor in front of my apartment. Even though I was really mad at her, I felt pity for her. I put my arm around her. Maybe it wasn't a good idea, to confront her on the floor with that in like 2 am in the morning. Before I could say something to her, the delivery boy appeared with my pizza in his hand. Quickly I stand up and put myself in front of her, so the delivery boy couldn't see Demi. I gave him the money out of my pockets, and he left. Oh damn, that was close. I wouldn't want anyone one that Demi Lovato is in my apartment. And for her, I didn't want that either. Because the paparazzi are every second. And a picture of her crying on the ground in front of a random apartment, wouldn't make a great headline. I put the pizza aside. And said in a calmy way to Demi, who was still crying and in kinda a shock: "Hey, come on, let's go in!" I helped her up and walked her inside. After I closed the door, she fell into my arms and hugged me. She held me real tight and I could feel her warm breath in my neck. I hugged her back. We were standing there like this, at least for 10 minutes. Then I slowly pulled her back. It seemed like she stopped crying. I advised her to sit on my sofa. I went into the kitchen and made both a cup of tea. When I come back she just sat there and was staring at the pizza, I placed on the table. "Do you want a slice?" she just nodded. "Then go for it!", is said and sat down next to her. She pulled a big slice out of the box and bit into it like she had nothing to eat in like a week or so. We just sat there. I nipped on my tea and she eat the pizza. I slowly asked, "Are you okay? Or should I call someone to pick you up?" with that she stared at me "To pick me up?"- "Yes, Demi! I think it would be best for you if I call someone from your team." – "Please don't. I'm okay." – "No, you're not and you know that." – "Okay, your right, but please can I stay a bit longer? I must explain it to you!" – "You don't have to. The only thing you must do is to get sober again. That's the only important thing, for you right now." – "Yeah, maybe the most important, but not the only thing I need!" – "Well, a cap of sleep wouldn't hurt either", I said with a little smile. "Okay, maybe that too. But not what I meant!" – "Then tell me, what is the other thing you need right now?" - "You!" – "Me?!", I said in unbelieving. What is she talking about? Are these the drugs in her? Or is she just tried? – "Yes, you! The night you stayed over, I was about to do it again. But in your company, I didn't even think a minute about it. But then you left, and I was alone that evening. Well not physically. But emotionally. Then he came over... Hey wait, did you leave, because of your boss or because you find that package in my car?" she asked. "To be honest I left, because of that package. I can't be around someone who consumes drugs. I can't. So, I thought, the best way, without hurting you, was that I made up that lie." – "Oh, okay. Thanks for being honest. But at that point, I was completely sober. I promise! But on that evening, I gave it up, and there I am now." – "I'm sorry about that." – "Don't be. It's not your fault! Its mine. For letting him in, again. Well, it seems like I don't learn out of mistakes. But one mistake I don't want to repeat is chasing you away, because of my addiction. I'm going to rehab again. It begins next week for 3 months. That's the reason, I wanted to see you tonight. And without seeing you again in like 4 months, I don't know if I could have done it... I know, we don't even know each other, but I can feel there is something, between us, that could be a great friendship. Or even more than that. I mean I really like... ." at that moment, someone knocked on my door. "Hold on, for a second!" I stud up and went to the door. I opened it and there was standing some random dude. He was middle-aged and was dressed entirely in black. "Hey, how can I help you?" He looked at me and said, "Is she okay?" I looked at him with a question mark on my face. "Oh sorry, I mean is Demi, okay? She told me to wait on the staircase. But never came back or wrote a message, so I just wanted to check, if everything is all right." Now I remembered him. He was that dude, who opened Demi's dressing room. He must be her bodyguard. "Yeah, kind of. I think she just had a little emotional breakdown, but she should be okay now." I let him, so he could check it himself. But when we come back to the living room. Demi just laid there on the sofa, with one hand hanging off. I rushed back to the sofa, worried if she was okay. One moment ago, she was just sitting there, eating and talking. When I lean over her, to check if she was still breathing. She made a loud snorer, and I scared the freak out of me and jumped back. "Sorry, she does this all time. She could literally sleep everywhere. But, once she falls asleep, she sleeps like a rock. Hahaha."- "Hahaha okay, good to know." He walked over to the sofa and made him ready to pick her up. "Oh, leave her here. She can sleep here tonight. I will look after her!" – "You're sure? I can pick her up and bring her to the car." – "No, no it's fine. She can stay." – "Okay, well then, I am going to leave now. I will pick her up tomorrow at like 9. She should be awake by then." I walked him out. Before he left, he gave his card. "Here. If anything should happen, please call me." – "I will. Good night!" He nodded and walked away. I went back in and looked at her lying there on my sofa. I took off her glasses and her shoes and covered her with a blanket. She looked so peaceful when she was asleep. I gave her a small kiss on her forehead. Before I left the room, I heard her sleep talking. She mumbled my name, even though it was quiet, I could hear it clearly. Back in bed, I thought what a crazy night. I quickly fall asleep.
