"Don't you think faking a smile every day is tiring." Gerald said getting Amara's attention suddenly
Amara was shocked. It was the first time someone said that to her and she didn't understand what he said. How can he say that she was just faking a smile.
"How about you, don't you think being alone is tiring." Amara stated a little angry
"I may be alone, but it was my choice and it's for the better to be alone means there are no toxic people, fake friends, everything." Gerald replied
"Let's face it there is no human being that can understand the depths of the hearts of others. They only pretend to understand." Gerald added
"That may be true, but we also have feelings and the want to empathize, to comfort someone who we hold dear, and I might not fully understand the pain they are experiencing but I want to be someone who can lessen it!" She said before running to leaving Gerald alone in the streets
"Wait!" Gerald said loudly as Amara ran to the corner
Amara ran to the corner and continued running for a few minutes after looking around she then remembered she didn't know the street and how to get home. She was lost with no cellphone to ask for help. Minutes passed and Amara was panicking, scared, and near crying when suddenly he saw a man running.
"Don't ever do that!" he said
It was Gerald who had been running everywhere to find Amara.
"Are you ok?" Gerald asked
Amara nodded she didn't want to talk to him because she was still angry at his words and the scaredness she felt thinking she is lost, she may seem petty, but the words did hurt her a lot.
Gerald then took Amara's hand and walked in silence for minutes.
"I can go home alone now that I know the way here." Amara said still looking down
"No, I don't want you getting lost again." Gerald stated
With that Amara led the way to her home.
"This is my home." Amara said
Gerald nodded and let go of her hand. He went on his way not bidding goodbye knowing she was still angry at him.
Amara opened the door to their house not knowing Gerald only walked a few steps and waited for Amara to enter her home before going completely.
"Hello darling how was your day?" Amara's mother asked
"It's great mom we found an art to use in our Art Appreciation." Amara answered
"But why do you look sad?" Amara's mother asked
"Did he do something to you just tell me." Amara's father said walking down the stairs.
"Nothing like that dad, we just had an argument on the way home." Amara replied looking down sad
"Ok darling will give you some space you can tell us when you are ready go upstairs and change for the meantime." Amara's mother said
"Ok mom." Amara complied
Amara then went upstairs and changed her clothes and took her hair tie off. She took her phone out of the bag and when she tried to open it, she forgot the battery was drained so she charged it for the meantime. It was already past 4 she could have gone home earlier if she didn't run away but she shrugged the thought not wanting to think about him. She then just did their essay to pass the time hours have past and it was already dinner time. She ate with her family, and she did reply to her parent's question about the day, but she was still sad, and her parents didn't want to push her, so they let her have her space. After dinner she helped clean up the table, bid goodnight to her parents and went upstairs. She checked her phone, and it was already full charge and opened the messages.
