Light on the Side of Darkness

Mystery POV

I awoke to see my "father" looming over me.  

"What do you want?" I spat.  

He grabbed me by my neck, "Do not speak to me that way." He yelled. I didn't react this wasn't the first time. I thought back to my dream it was prefect in everyday my arms ached to hold my love again. My father was a monster he raided the village my mother lived in and he rounded up all the females and took them hostage he and his men raped them all and that's how I was conceived, I was the only one of us that could shift the rest just had the heightened senses of cats but they couldn't shift that's why I was the favorite, my father said I could be used as his double agent I didn't want to be he threatened to kill my mother so I had to do his biding.  

"Go check on the prisoners." He said throwing me to the ground I picked myself up and walked out of the small room that I had claimed as mine. I walked to the lower part of the house and unlocked the heavy metal door careful not to touch it because of the silver, the myths were true about silver hurting us it burned us and our bodies couldn't heal it. When I opened the door the smell of human waste, hopelessness, fear and worst of all death assaulted my nose. I heard the sound of foot steps and ran into my half brother he was also able to shift, "Is she alright?" He asked I knew who he was talking about, his mate, "I don't know I only saw mine." I said his shoulders drooped.  

"But she didn't mention losing her so she must be safe." I added laying a hand on his shoulder. He nodded and gave me a faint smile. He walked out the door I had just entered and I headed deeper into the room cages lined the walls and in them were shifters of different kinds from canines to avians and cats and even a few reptiles they didn't have many they were mysterious shifters that kept to themselves the ones that were held captives rarely spoke and were usually some type of reptilian. I sighed asd I walked past all of the other shifters, I hated this place, I hated the fact that I had to capture and kill my own kind, the only reason I did this was for my mohter and baby sister, she was my full blooded sister, my father  said that my mother was his favorite.  I pushed open the door to a small room that had a door pressed against the far back wall and a small dresser, there was a door on the far right wall that led to a small bathroom, my mother was sitting on the bed trying to sooth my little Rose.  I held out my arms and gently took her in my arms I started cooing to her and she calmed down I smiled and rocked her gently she was perfect in everyway shape and form.  She had platinum blonde hair, bright blue eyes, her skin was soft and pale as cream. 

"I had a dream of her,"  I said to my mother while rocking Rose. 

"Sounds like your souls yern for each other." She said smiling at me.

"I'm trying to find a way to tell her, Mom how do I tell her I'm the reason she's lost everything?"  I asked looking down.

"Sweet heart it's not your falut you can't contorl the fact that he uses us as hostage for you, we'll find a way out of here and then you can tell her, did she tell you where she was?" She asked looking around making sure no one could hear.

I sighed and shook my head, "No she just needed me and I was there I'll try again tonight, I miss her, my soul is aching for her, I hope she's safe and far away from his clutches I don't need her hurt she's been though enough."  I said running my hand gently over Rose's soft head. I placed a gentle kiss over her head then handed her back to my mother.

"She'll be safe it sounds like she is well loved and you will join her I just know it, now go before he beats you again I love you sweet heart just please be careful."  She said kissing my check I sighed and walked out of the room going to my father to hear what he had planned next. I just hope she was safe.
