Chapter 19 Broken People

I walked out of the hospital with Leon, he wrapped his arm protectively around me. I snuggled close to his side. We walked over to white SUV and climbed in, "Lets go home." I said looking over at Leon as he started the engine. He looked grim, "Sapphire, it isn't pretty, the clans are in shambles, the avians and the canines have both lost their leaders. Kyle has managed to disappear and everyone is looking to you for guidance."

I took a deep breath, "You'll stand by me?"

"Always."

"We'll make it, I know it." I said with determination.

I stood at the balcony, Leon on my right Lilly on my left, the clans were seated in there respected area, I looked at hem some scared, some trying to be brave and many just looking lost.

"I know you are all afraid right now I know many suffered loss, but we are free our people are free never to be slabs to human race again. I know many don't see a great future, but I do, we will unite together as one, forever!" I shouted.

"Who will join Queen Sapphire's clan and recognize her as their Queen and I as King?" Leon asked gazing over the crowd. The reptile elder stood, "We are already joined to Queen Sapphire, we will stand with her and protect her and her family for as long as there is a reptile standing." He stated. The reptiles stood and bowed.

"I Queen Sapphire, except your loyalty to the crown and those who rule." I replied.

Next I noticed Justin stand, "As representative of the canines I speak for all when I say we shall stand by you and yours until we fade from existence."

"I Queen Sapphire except your loyalty to the crown and those who rule."

The canines all stood and bowed.

And lastly, Muse stood, "As leader of the avians I say we will join you and watch the sky for you and your family till there is no longer a bird to fly."

"I Queen Sapphire except your loyalty to the crown and those who rule."

The avians stood and bowed. I looked down at all my people, the people I was charged to keep safe and protect the question was, was I ready?

*Several hours later*

"What do you mean he's gone?" I asked the reptile standing in front of me.

"I went to his room to find him and he had vanished, your majesty." He replied bowing.

"I can't believe Kyle would do that, there was no note or explanation as to where he's gone?" I asked.

"No my queen."

I sighed in exasperation, "We'll assemble the trackers and find him, in the mean time I need you to find Lilly, Cas, Muse and Justin and tell them to meet me in the conference room along with the trackers."

"Yes your highness." He said with a bow turning around and quickly walking away.

Sometimes it sucks being a queen!
