"Interesting choice of direction our afternoon walk has led us" Viserra said semi amused as she strode alongside Varys in the cellars of the Red Keep.
"I would have thought this place was appropriate for the company" Varys said casually as he eyed the handsome Dornish guard watching the pair. "He's a pretty one"
"He's capable" Viserra looked sternly at the playful smirk from Jovan. "Now start unraveling your web" she motioned with her hand.
"What ever do you mean?" Varys questioned innocently and paused in front of a dragon skull.
"Now is not the time to play coy" Viserra still strode around the black skulls of her maternal family's dragons. She knew all of their names, their stories. "I'm sure it is no coincidence our leisurely stroll led us down here to the secluded and private cellars of the keep the day before Tyrion's trial" Viserra caress the skull of Meleys, the Red Queen. Her scales were said to be a deep beautiful scarlet. Her membranes were pink and claws a rich copper. One of the swiftest dragons that could easily outpace Caraxes or Vhagar. Viserra looked back to Varys and waited.
"How's your egg?" Varys deflected.
"Still stone" Viserra dropped her hand from the skull and walked toward a pile of smaller deformed skulls. Her dream was over a week ago. It had become more than an obsession at this point. She was being consumed by the idea of her own egg hatching.
"Your aunt's were once stone" Varys followed and stood next to her. Viserra crouched down and examined a misshapen skull before switching to another one. "And now they fly and breathe fire on the other side of the Narrow Sea"
"Yes, they do" Viserra wiped her hands of the dust and stood up. "I hear my aunt Daenerys is doing more than raising dragons. Reports I have received say her army of Unsullied captured Meereen quite easily"
"She does have quite the new list of titles" Varys smirked.
"And looking to add more" Viserra continued her walk further into the keep with Varys following. "Perhaps I should travel to Essos"
"I doubt the realm could handle so many dragons in one place" Varys eyed the young woman in front of him and finish his sentence with his eyes and not his words.
"The realm did fine once before" Viserra eyed him keeping her head high.
"The Targaryen Dynasty." Varys sighed. "One of bloodshed, abuse of power, and petty family squabbles. That is all the realm seems to remember when they hear Targaryen." Varys looked around at the bones of dragons.
"Aegon and his sisters were a necessary evil for their time." followed Varys' gaze.
"An outsider to Westeros, a necessary evil?" Varys quirked his brow
"Before Aegon and his sisters what was there?" Viserra spoke more to herself. "Kingdoms warring amongst themselves, generation after generation having renewed distaste for their neighbors. Feud after feud with no end in sight. Without Aegon, Visenya and Rhaenys, the uniting of the realms would have taken longer if not at all"
"They had dragons, some say that's what forged the realms together" Varys quipped.
"Then those some are fools. Their relationship with dragons quickened the process and maintained a firm hand on those who tried to disrupt the forced peace. But something I have learned from history is that conquering cities, or lands, it means nothing if it does not benefit the people in the end." Viserra looked back at Varys.
"How so?"
"Those in power, kings, queens, lords and ladies have ruled over this continent since the beginning of time. History remembers them as they were." Varys nodded along as she continued. "Their contributions is what the people remember. Whether they maintained peace, or disrupted it. If they advance and grew their houses and territories, or if the name and line died out. If the were just and fair, or cruel and malicious." Viserra paused. "Everyone in power will be remembered for something and the people under their care determine what it is."
