Let's Talk

Haru slipped from my arms as he saw the playground. I chuckled at him before looking towards the garden. It has gotten bigger since the last time I have seen it. I walked to the gravestone put next to the lily bush. The stone had her name in the middle of a heart and an angel leaning over it.

She was such a sweet girl when she was here. Jedrek put it in the garden in memory of his daughter. Her name was Reina, such a pretty name though I wish I knew her more. She was only two years younger than me. It was sad the way she was taken from him.

I felt a presence nearby and grabbed my knife, staying calm keeping it under my arm. Haru was still playing on the slide. I looked towards him walking over to the bench. I heard a rustle then a grunt and I got up quickly looking at the area with my knife and gun out.

"Wait uh it's me please don't shoot." I sighed before lowering my weapon. "You idiot, I almost shot you. Don't go sneaking around me when I have a loaded gun. Think about Haru, would you?" He laughed while coming to sit with me. He never stops with his stupid pranks.

Haru yelled his name running over to jump on him, "Vaughnie! I missed you so much!" I chuckled as he hugged him. "Aw hey little guy I missed you too. You've been taking care of mommy today?" He nodded fast, almost worrying me. He might give himself whiplash.

"And you Mimi, have you been taking care of yourself since Haru has been with Roxy?" I sighed looking ahead at the flowers on the other side of the set. "You know May always asks about you he says he really messed up. Do you know what he means?" He was really trying to get me to talk about it. I asked Haru to go play on the playground so I could talk to Vaughn.

"I walked in on May and his fiancé as they were having a moment I guess. It wasn't pretty really seeing someone you love naked with another person." He coughed before leaning forward and sighing. "So that's what happened? He wouldn't tell me but I can guess why now. He didn't want me to be mad at him." I nodded before continuing as he wanted.

"You know I actually started taking your advice and tried to take care of myself. I even started to just try to "live" a little. But once I saw May with her I thought about how it was too good to be true. He would tell me how much he loved me or liked me and I believed him." Saying it out loud didn't help with the numbness.

Vaughn hugged me and started to rub my back. I was surprised I didn't feel like crying. I think I was slowly going back to my old self. I think I was starting to not care so much about it. It was like any positive feelings towards anything were fading. I felt like I didn't need them anymore.

"I don't feel sad about it anymore though. I think my mental training is coming back." He shook my shoulders as he looked at me. "You know that can't happen, think about Haru. I know I was ordered to do so but I hated it. Robo Mimi is a no go, you will not become an emotionless Mimi again." I sighed before looking at Haru.

I am not Robo Mimi. Otherwise, I would not feel so happy with Haru. "I am not Robo okay? I just don't feel anything towards May anymore. I mean it was not like he did either considering he never told me about his fiancé." He nodded then clenched his fist making me grab his hand. I could tell he was irritated about it. But it is not his problem to worry about.

Sometimes it can be hard being the main guard with not being able to have a life.

"So have you met the lady who he is wedding?" Vaughn shook his head and I sighed. Man, it has been a sighing party today. Haru came running back to us grabbing Vaughn's arm. "Come play with me, Vaughnie." He laughed letting Haru take him away.

I looked up at the sky and wondered about the time that I have spent here. It has been almost 12 years. Maybe one day I will have the time to live a peaceful life of no killing or dealing.

I heard a bell and knew that someone was here. I had to be at the main house to be by the boss' side. I looked at Vaughn and he nodded knowing what I was asking. I ran, putting my knife in its holster. Once at the door, I noticed my outfit and went to my office in the headquarters. I quickly changed into a black dress slipping on my flats. I ran to the main lobby stopping at the entrance taking a deep breath.

I pushed open the door with a straight face walking in. The first person I saw was May watching me. Then I saw the girl who was hugging him and looked away. I stood next to the boss and he smiled at me as I did to him.

"Jedrek, my old friend. How have you been? I see the business has been good around here." I glanced at the broad man who was the same height as Sir. He then glanced back at me looking me up and down.

Sir cleared his throat before speaking, "I see you have been doing well, how is the wife?" I could tell he was irritated with that question as he raised his brow. Huffing he turned to May and his fiancé.

"Have you two been getting to know each other?" May looked at me before he looked away. His fiancé was doing all the talking as he stayed quiet. I figured that he was the one who didn't want to talk while I was around. He must be upset that I am not even slightly upset.

"So Jedrek I came to talk business as the wedding is coming closer. I want to offer you a deal to help your company become better. If you would like, we can talk now about it." I looked at him as he looked smug trying to seem greater than the boss. He gives me a bad feeling in my stomach.

I saw May who was standing near the weird man. He clenched his fist as if mad at the man. Did he know what he was asking from us? Was it something worth getting so upset about? Maybe he wanted to have a share of the business?
