You waited behind the corner, back pressed against the cold metal wall as his echoing steps grew closer and closer.

The closer he got, the more you started to hold your breath and creep away from his line of sight until he had almost completely passed your little hiding place.

Jumping out and screaming goulish noises from behind your painted mask, hands raised in the air, the Mandalorian slowly turned his head and tilted his helmet, as if raising his eyebrow, unimpressed.

Sighing in defeat, you hung your head and let your hands fall to your sides. Mumbling to yourself.

"Dang it." The child giggled from his crib, having seen the whole attempt.

"Were you trying to scare me?" Din's modulated voice questioned, stepping towards you and lifting your carved mask, revealing your pouted lips.

"...maybe." You muttered

His warm chuckle sent a chill down your spine, and you crossed your arms with a huff, only making him laugh louder with mirth.

"What's so funny?" You demanded, fighting your own smile from taking over your lips and the blush creeping up your neck. He clutched his stomach, leaning against the wall beside him. "What?"

"N-nothing!" He struggled to make a coherent sentence, and you grew worried for how much sleep he got based on how long this was drawing out.

"Din are you alright?" Your own grin crept up your lips as you met his visor.

"Yeah, yeah I'm just- You're so cute." His laughter died down, and he straightened up again, looking back at you, and you could hear the smile in his voice. Your cheeks seemed warmer than usual.

"I don't scare easily cyar'ika. You should know this." You huffed and leaned back, leaning your weight on one leg.

"I know."

"I've got to land the ship, we need to pick up supplies." Pressing his forehead to yours, you watched as he walked away and climbed up the ladder. You'd failed this time, but this wasn't the end of your mischief.

Over the last few days you'd made traps and jumpscares around the ship where you knew Din would be, but the most you'd gotten was a twitch of his fingers and tense of his shoulders. It happened so much that he was checking around every corner, but you needed a good scare! You needed him to jump, to prove your sneakiness. Today may be that day.

You'd just left another planet from letting the kid stretch his legs, and you had dropped from the trees to spook him from behind, but miserably failed. He ended up laughing for over five minutes, and you worried you might need to give him CPR.

Now you hid in the panels of the ceiling in the cockpit, balancing on the pipes and poles of the Crests structures. You heard the ship's ramp close and Din's boots hit the ladder as he made his way to the pilot's chair. While the control panel hummed to life with the ship, you took the chance to swing down from the ceilings panels and was careful to land silently on your bare feet.

You felt the Crest soar to life below you as the thrusters sent it to the skies. You stepped forward, mindful to avoid the creaky ground points as he set the ship into hyperspace and relaxed in his chair.

Slipping the ghastly mask over you face and hovering a hand over his chair, you waited a second before spinning it around and stretching to your full height, arms spread wide above you.

"BOO!"

"GAHH!" He swung a punch, but you managed to dodge, however fell back landing on the floor, doubling over with laughter and clutching your side.

Din grasped the shirt just over his heart, and you could hear his heavy breaths through his helmet as he slumped in his chair, ripping a howl of glee from your chest. Jumping up, you pumped your fists in victory, dancing around the confined space with a grin so wide he could practically see it behind your mask.

"Ididitididitididit!" You giggled, lifting your mask back up. "I, Y/n L/n, scared the great Mandalorian, Din Djarin!" He sighed and shook his head, taking deep breaths to calm his racing heart.

When you saw his sulky attitude, you circled back to him to pull him in a hug. "Aww, don't look so glum Din, you lasted over a month!" Reluctantly he wrapped his arms around you too, his defeated pout wavering into a smile.

"Good job cyar'ika," He mumbled, taking off his own helmet to reveal his beautiful face. He brushed his lips with yours, a sweeter reward than you could have asked for.

"Maybe I should scare you more often." You smirked once you pulled away for air, and you could see the hesitance in his gaze.

"But what if you didn't?" He offered, adorable wobbly smile making your heart melt. Kissing the pout off your lips, you hugged him tighter, burying your face in the crook of his neck.

"What about sometimes?" You bargained, feeling the deep rise and fall of his chest as he sighed, his hot breath fanning down your neck.

"Maybe." He answered after a while. He felt you shrug and sigh in contentment as you curled up in his lap, the events of your previous journeys and battles taking a massive toll on your sleep schedule, but in his arms, you felt safe and fulfilled. You knew you could sleep in peace.

So as he stroked your hair and held you close, you fell asleep in each other's arms, having pleasant dreams for the first time in a long time on this fine Halloween's night.
