Ch.29 Processing Revelations

After Blue and Dream left

  Blue and I walk through the portal into his home. I'm currently mentally and emotionally exhausted after everything that just took place. From Blue being able to travel around the multiverse on his own to the fact that my brother is capable of falling in love with someone. Then the fact that their was a whole secret counsel of people from all sides to maintain the balance of the multiverse. Plus, my best friend and son were keeping secrets from me about the enemy. We step into the kitchen and I go sit at the table. I lay my head down and sigh. "How long?" I ask.

  "WHAT DO YOU MEAN?" Blue asks. I look up at him as he sits across from me.

  "You didn't really explain anything to me about what was going on other than you got a message about my brother wanting a meeting with me, without Ink. I went along with it, because you said Core would be there too. Then I find out that there is a whole counsel of balance keepers that Ink and I didn't know about. How long have you been meeting with them?" I ask.

  "PRETTY MUCH SINCE THE GROUP WAS FORMED. ERROR INVITED ME TO COME JOIN. AS YOU KNOW DURING MY TIME WITH HIM, HE EXPLAINED THE BALANCES TO ME. I ACTED AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF THE STAR SANSES FOR THE TWO OF YOU. WHILE YOU KNOW ABOUT THE BALANCES, IT WAS ALMOST UNANIMOUSLY AGREED THAT YOUR RELATIONSHIPS WITH NIGHTMARE AND OLD ONE WITH INK COULD COMPROMISE US. I DIDN'T LIKE IT, BUT THERE WASN'T ANYTHING I COULD DO. THOUGH WE HAD BEEN TALKING ABOUT HAVING YOU COME SINCE THE TWO OF YOU BROKE UP. WITH HOW SERIOUS THE SITUATION IS, NIGHTMARE AND CORE AGREED TO HAVE YOU COME." Blue explains.

  "And, what about Palette? How long has he known?" I say frustrated.

  "A LITTLE WHILE AFTER GOTH AND HIM BECAME FRIENDS. NIGHTMARE ACCIDENTALLY GOT CAUGHT SHOWING UP TO TALK TO ERROR ABOUT THE NEXT MEETING IN REAPER'S AU. THAT LEAD TO HIM BEING KEPT INFORMED ON WHAT WAS SAFE FOR HIM TO KNOW LIKE THE OTHER KIDS. NIGHTMARE ALSO LIKED TO VISIT TO TALK TO HIM ABOUT HOW HE WAS DOING ON OCCASION. HE ALWAYS BEHAVED LIKE A LOVING UNCLE TO HIM." Blue tells him. I shrink on myself.

  "All this time I convinced myself he wasn't capable of feelings any positive emotions. That he was just manipulating the others to do his bidding. I would just try to get him to go back to how he was when we were younger, without thinking about how he could have changed. I didn't believe he cared about the balance, but causing destruction and chaos. Ha! He was doing everything for the balance! Not just ours but the others as well! He was doing more to protect the multiverse than I ever have. I just sat back and let Ink do what he wanted and use me for his own purposes. The one I should have watched out for wasn't my brother and his gang but one of the very people I trusted the most. And I was the only one who was too blind to see it." I say full of pain and self loathing. Blue comes over to me and rest a hand on my shoulder.

  "I CAN'T TELL YOU ALL OF THAT ISN'T TRUE. I WOULD BE LYING IF I DID. YOU DO WORK HARD TO MAINTAIN YOUR BALANCE, BUT YOU LET OTHERS WALK ALL OVER YOU. I'VE TRIED TO STOP IT, BUT OTHERS TRY TO DO IT TO ME TOO. I JUST GOT TIRED OF IT AND STARTED DOING THINGS BEHIND OTHERS BACK. THEY SEE ME AS JUST AN INNOCENT CHILD EVEN THOUGH I'M THE OLDER BROTHER AND RAISED MY PAPYRUS. I WAS EVEN A SCIENTIST AT ONE POINT AS WELL. EVERYONE JUST SEEMS TO FORGET ALL THAT THOUGH. I JUST LET IT WORK IN MY FAVOR, AND LET THEM UNDERESTIMATE ME. YOU WOULD THINK THAT THE FACT THAT I FIGHT WITH THE TWO OF YOU ON A REGULAR BASIS THEY WOULD REALIZE I DON'T NEED TO BE PROTECTED FROM ANYTHING." Blue say. I sigh.

  I didn't just misjudge my brother, but my best friend as well. Blue would always try to encourage me and act as my rock no matter what anyone else said or did. Sure I didn't treat him as a child, but I still didn't see through the facade he wore for everyone too the real Blue. Looking back I can remember the times he let it down. Like when he stood up for me against Ink for using me for my positivity. He made sure Palette and I had a place to stay away from Ink in the Omega timeline afterwards. "I'm sorry Blue. I'm a horrible friend." I say in tears. Blue pulls me into a hug.

  "NO YOUR NOT. YOUR A GREAT FRIEND. YOUR KIND, COMPASSIONATE, AND UNDERSTANDING. YOU ALWAYS TRY TO CHEER ME UP WHEN I'M DOWN. WHEN MY BROTHER WAS BECOMING CONTROLLING YOU LET ME STAY WITH YOU UNTIL WE WERE ABLE TO WORK THINGS OUT. YOU'VE ALWAYS TRIED TO ENCOURAGE ME TO FOLLOW MY DREAMS. AND, EVEN WHEN YOU DIDN'T KNOW THE FULL PICTURE YOU WOULD TRY TO BACK ME UP IN THE COUNSEL MEETINGS AGAINST THE OTHERS." Blue tells me. I start to calm down.

  He had a point. I always tried to be a good friend to Blue no matter what. He was one of the only people I could say I truly trusted. Sure he kept secrets from me, but it wasn't for a bad reason. He was just try to protect others. Even with everything he knows he still considers me a friend and tried to help me. I wipe my face of my tears. Now wasn't the time to feel bad about myself. There were things greater than just us going on. I become serious. "Your right. I can't let myself wallow. I'm the guardian of positivity, I need to be positive!" I say.

  Blue sighs. "IT OK TO BE UPSET. I KNOW IT IS A LOT TO PROCESS. I'VE TOLD YOU THAT YOU CAN'T ALWAYS BE POSITIVE. WE'LL TAKE TONIGHT FOR YOU TO PROCESS EVERYTHING, AND TOMORROW WE CAN START PLANNING. I ALREADY HAVE A FEW IDEAS FOR WHO WE CAN ASK TO JOIN US." Blue tells me patiently.

  *Sigh* "Ok. We can start tomorrow. You mind if I spend the night with you. Palette is supposed to be staying with Goth, so I would just be by myself at home." I tell him.

  "OF COURSE! WE CAN HAVE A SLEEPOVER! WE CAN BUILD A FORT, WATCH NABSTATON, AND EAT MY MAGNIFICENT FRIENDSHIP TACOS!" Blue exclaims excitedly. I smile at my friend.

  Even if things aren't what I thought they were I know that Blue will stick by me. I may have not been the friend I wanted to be to him, but I will just have to try harder. As Blue goes and gets the stuff we need to build a fort, I can't help but let my thoughts stray to one mysterious true neutral. Who exactly was Aster and what could my brother have offered her to get him to join him? I could tell that she was comfortable with him, but that wouldn't be enough to stray someone of her soul type into the middle of a multiversal war. She could have stayed on the sidelines instead of joining him. Neutral's have a tendency to look out for their own well-being and those they care for more than anything, but she joined the side that is literally the enemy of the entire multiverse. Nightmare also mentioned a condition. There's something I just can't put my finger on. Like I'm missing something important. I can feel it in my soul. And, for the life of me I can't figure out what. It doesn't feel like it's bad, but something tells me I'll find out eventually.

  "COME ON DREAM! I NEED HELP PUTTING EVERYTHING TOGETHER!" Blue calls for me from the living room. I get up.

  "I'm coming Blue! You still have to explain why you called Dust, Dusty." I tell him. I make my way into the living room.

  I guess I'll just have to see how everything plays out from here on.
