Chapter 29

Calum's POV :)

"Congratulations mate!" We all yelled as Luke and Sophie stepped into the doorway.

We had all helped Luke with his proposal and we all knew Sophie would say yes. You could see it in her eyes every time she was with him. He was so nervous and I know why. He was afraid she would say no.

" What time are we going out?" Michael asked as we sat down in the living room.

"In ten minutes!" Mel yelled as she stood up and grabbed Sophie. Dragging her to our room.

"Give us the details!" Ashton focused in on Luke as his cheeks reddened.

"Aww, Lukey is blushing!" Michael cooed.

"Shut up mate." Luke glared at Michael. "There's not much to tell. I asked her and she said yes."

"You suck at details Luke." I gave him a pointed look.

We all sat there as we heard the girls laughing in the room. Meliny's laugh was so beautiful. It was so adorable when she would squeak in the middle of a laugh. I was just about to tell they guys when the girls came back out. I'm going to have to tell them soon.

Meliny's POV :)

We were sitting in the car and I refused to let Luke or Calum sit with us. I needed some best friend time.

"Calum is acting weird." I looked down at my hands.

"Why do you say that?"

"Hewon'tlookmeintheeyehegetsreallynervouswhenhetalkstomeandhewon'tgoanywherealonewithme." I let out all in one breath.

"You wanna repeat the Speedy Gonzales?" Sophie laughed.

"I said that he won't look me in the eye, he gets really nervous when he talks to me, and he won't go anywhere alone with me."

"Do you have any idea why he would be acting this way?"

I gave her a pointed look, "Would I be asking you if I did?"

"Good point." She nodded her head. "Well I would talk to him about it. Don't wait for him to say anything because he probably won't. But try and see everything from his point of view before you react."

"Gee thanks." I sarcastically looked at her.

"I don't mean it in a bad way. I'm just sayin that I know how you are and I know how much you will beat yourself up if you lose him over something stupid."

"I know. I know."

"Good! Now lets go get some food!" With that she jumped out of the car when Ashton parked it and we all began to head into the restaurant.

Sophie's POV :)

Calum is acting weird. He is playing with his food across the table and refuses to talk to me or Meliny. I put my hand on Luke's thigh to get his attention. I giggled as I felt him tense up. I leaned over and kissed his cheek.

"Do you know what is up with Calum?" I whispered in his ear.

He glanced over at Calum and shook his head. "No, but I can ask."

"No that's alright. I was just curious." I pecked his lips and we went back to our food. My hand still on his thigh and his cheeks growing redder by the minute.

Luke's POV :)

Now I'm curious about Calum. Ever since Sophie asked at dinner, I've noticed he isn't acting like himself. We just got back from the restaurant and we are all in the living room. Sophie fell asleep curled up into my chest. I smiled down as I saw the ring sitting on her finger. She agreed to be mine and it's the most amazing feeling in the world. I looked over as Ashton was talking on the phone with someone and Michael and Meliny were arguing over hair color. I glanced over at Calum. He was sitting next to me in a total daze. I nudged his arm, trying not to move too much. He looked over at me and frowned.

"What's up mate?" I asked him.

He immediately sighed. "I'm nervous man."

"About?"

"It's a surprise. And before you go all "best mate" on me just know that I want to tell you but you can't keep a secret for shit. You could barely keep your proposal to Sophie a secret. You almost told her the night before."

"Hey! In my defense I was just too excited." I lightly punched his arm.

"I know man but I can't have her finding out." He motioned to Meliny.

"Alright man. Just don't hurt her. Otherwise she," I smiled down at Sophie, "is going to make me chop your balls off with a dull butter knife."

Calum chuckled as he nodded his head and got up off the couch. I watched as he disappeared into the kitchen. I snuggled into Sophie and pulled a blanket over us, falling asleep to the sound of her steady breathing.
