Anything Can Happen (5SOS)

Chapter 12

:) Sophie's POV :) 

It's been a month and three days since the boys left. I have no idea when they are coming back or if they are coming back. Life has continued on. Break ended and both me and Mel are back at school. She's six hours away and its torture. Classes are as boring as ever but if I want my degree I gotta do it. We have winter break in about three weeks and it couldn't come faster. I haven't talked to Luke in about four weeks and I miss him. But the guys have an interview in a couple days and Mel is gonna skype me so we can watch it together.

I just finished up a business class and I am in dire need of some coffee. Walking through the college campus towards our local coffee shop I notice a news stand. Now don't get me wrong, I like my gossip but I'm not one to go snooping for a magazine with the biggest details. But something pulled me towards the stand. It's like my feet had a mind of their own. I walked up and greeted the student that was manning the news stand. I looked through the magazines looking for something that was interesting when my eyes landed on it.  My heart ripped into pieces. My jaw hit the floor and my stomach twisted into knots. Was I seeing this right? Is this a sick joke? How could this happen? I thought.... I thought I meant something. I thought wrong. I was so, so wrong. How could I be so stupid? So naive? 

There on the cover of the magazine was Luke. Kissing another girl. The headline read, "5SOS BAND MEMBER GETS A GIRLFRIEND! Watch out ladies. Who's next to be in a relationship?" 

My hand flew to my mouth trying to muffle the cry that wanted to escape. I could feel the tears building up behind my eyes. I couldn't stand here any longer and look at it. I ran. I ran like an axe murderer was behind me. I didn't know where I was running. I found myself running in the small park on the outside of the campus. I collapsed to my knees. By now my sobs were loud and clear. Why? What did I do? Was I nothing? Did I mean nothing? Was I a joke? Just a play thing for him? Something to toy with while he was here? I couldn't take the pain. I slowly got to my feet and began walking to my car. I zoned out. I felt nothing. I was empty and I hated it. I got to my apartment and curled up in bed. I was blank. There was nothing. 

I don't know how long I was curled up but my phone ringing brought me out of my bubble. I grabbed my phone and saw it was Mel. I hesitated before I answered.

:) Meliny's POV :) 

I had a free period before my next class so I was on my computer. Now unlike Sophie, I live for gossip. It makes me feel like a know more than I should. So naturally, I was reading the latest gossip when I came across it. I read, reread, and read again before I completely comprehended what I just saw. At first I was in shock, but then I was pissed beyond belief. How could he? When I see or talk to that boy he is gonna be dead. I have to call them I need to know what is going on. How were the rest of the guys dealing with him? I grabbed my phone and searched for Ashton's phone number. I've been talking either him, Michael, or Calum at least once a week since they left. I would ask about Luke cause Sophie hadn't talked to.... Sophie! 

"Shit!" I immediately stopped calling Ashton and dialed Sophie's number. I almost thought she wasn't gonna answer but when she did, I felt horrible. Sobs came through though the phone. 

"Soph?" She didn't reply. She just cried. 

"Soph. Listen to me. I'm gonna find out what I can about what the fuck he is doing. He isn't gonna escape the wrath of your best friend. I promise." I was fuming but I waited for a response. 

"Just leave it be. What happened, happened. We can't change anything. I mean what was I expecting? This isn't a fucking fairy tale. I was stupid to believe I could actually have a relationship, let alone a friendship, with someone who has girls throwing themselves at him all the time. I'm nothing. So just leave it." She sounded broken. I just got more pissed. This asshole thinks he can mess with my best friend. Well he has a whole other thing coming. 

"Soph, I'm not leaving this..." She cut me off.

"Please.." 

I sighed, "Fine."

"I'm gonna sleep. I'll talk to you later Mel." She didn't give me time to respond as she hung up.

I was furious. Like hell was I gonna "leave it be." She would have to tie me and put duck tape over my mouth in order for me not to do something. And even then I would find a way to beat his ass. 

I grabbed my phone again and dialed Ashton. I didn't care what time it was or what they were doing. He better as hell answer his damn phone. Luckily, he did. 

"What the hell is Luke doing? Does he know what he has fucking done? Put him on the damn phone so I can verbally kick his ass!" I yelled through the fun. I felt bad Ashton had to deal with me but I couldn't care less at the moment. 

"Meliny calm down! Let me explain." He sounded like he was desperate, but I wasn't having it. 

"Like hell do I want an explanation from you! I want one from Luke!" I was still yelling. My voice is gonna be hoarse tomorrow. 

"He can't explain. He's no...."

"Because he's and class A, asshole! Put him on the phone." I demanded.

"He's not here." Ashton sounded defeated. 

"You know what. Fuck him. Tell him he just lost something that he will never find again. Tell him he destroyed it. Tell him not to call Sophie. She won't be able to handle the pain." With that I hung up. 

I put my head in my hands and breathed out slowly. This is all a big mess. My phone started ringing and I looked at the ID. It was Ashton again. I already said all I could. I turned my phone off threw it at the couch. I walked over to my bed and instantly fell asleep thinking I'll deal with it later.

It's been four and a half weeks since the incident. I started talking to Ashton, Michael and Calum again. They told me Luke is a mess. He doesn't sleep or eat. He explained to them that the picture was taken after a show. The girl came up to him and kissed him. He immediately pushed her away. She was crazy and it meant nothing. He was so desperate to make us believe, and we did. Especially after the body guard told us he had to escort the girl out 'cause she sneaked backstage and was trying to steal anything that belonged to the boys. We believed him, because it was Danny. The one that started this all that night at The Forum. But we weren't the ones that needed convincing. Luke tried contacting Sophie, but she ignored him. She's not the same anymore. She's really quiet and she doesn't laugh like she used to. Which is bad, 'cause she usually laughs at everything. That's not an exaggeration

Christmas is a day away and I'm headed back home. The boys are gonna be in LA for New Years. Sophie doesn't know yet but we are going to a party with them. I feel bad for putting her in that situation but she needs to face him. She needs to let her emotions out. She needs to see that it was a misunderstanding.
