Chapter 24

The house is silent. When I make it down to breakfast, everyone is quiet, there eyes glued on their plates. I scan the table and see that Solar, Pluto, and Mercury is gone.

I take my food outside and eat, speaking to Cory as I do so. "What's been going on at the house?" She asks and I can hear worry in her voice.

"Mercury and James both broke down in my arms." I sigh, rubbing my forehead.

"Are they alright?" She gasps and I sigh again.

"James is alright, but Mercury, he's still going through it. I told him he can talk to me when he needs too, but I feel like I'm pushing him away." I tell her truthfully, staring up at the sky. "I want him to trust me, I want them all to trust me"

"It's going to take some time." She says and I nod, even though she can't see me. "Just keep being there for them. Be supportive, but also be the firm hand that they need. Walk into the role that they are so clearly offering you." She says and my brows furrow.

"What role is that exactly?" I clarify and now it's her turn to sigh.

"I swear you're so oblivious." She mutters. "They want you to take on the leadership role, of course. They want you to show them why you were place as a Dom. No more, letting them walk over you, no more skipping out of the scene when they act up. It's time for you to step up and be who they need you to be."

"You're right." I tell her, allowing the words to really sink in.

"I'm always right, sometimes." She says smugly and I chuckle. I talk to her for a few more minutes then hang up the phone. I continue to lay outside a bit longer, just trying to get my thoughts together, then I head back into the house.

I make my way up to Mercury's room, and see he's alone in his bed. I knock softly and enter his room. His eyes widen in shock, when I lay next to him. I don't touch him or move to grab him, just run my eyes over his tear stained face and red puffy eyes. All in all he looks beautiful. "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable at all." I begin to apologize and he moves to interrupt me, but I shush him. "I'm not used to expressing many emotions, or being around people, so I'm sorry if it seemed like I wanted nothing to do with y'all."

"It's not your fault." His voice cracks and I run my thumb along his cheek, wiping away the tears that's dropped from it.

"I want you to know that you can trust me. That I won't leave you guys. I want you to know that I'll be here, no matter what." I say honestly and I hope he can here the truth in my words. "You deserve the world Mercury and I will give it to you."

"Thank you." He whispers and I place a soft kiss on his forehead. I place my forehead against his and the tears continue to fall from his eyes slowly.

"You have no reason to thank me, sweetheart. I'm just speaking the truth." I place one last kiss then pull away, so I don't overwhelm him.

"Please stay here, with me, with us." He pleads. His greenish brown eyes, glossed over and I nod. I pull him into my arms, clutching him to my chest.

Pluto and Solar comes to check up on him but I wave them away because he's sleeping. He needs his rest. I trace my eyes over his stunning features in awe. His hand is clutch tightly against my shirt, but I don't mind.

The noise from downstairs is muffled, but I can tell that the boys are relieved that Mercury will be alright. Pluto and Solar had to stop them from barging in. Sage and Dillion is rounding up everyone to leave and I'm a bit grateful for it.

This way Mercury can really focus and not try and run off again. "Afternoon, beautiful." I brush a finger against his nose, as he eyes me sleepily.

"Afternoon." He murmurs, he blinks slowly and when he finally realizes that it's me he's held onto, he widens his eyes and tries to pull away but I keep my hold on him. "I'm so sorry."

"Shh, you did nothing wrong." I keep my voice calm and light, hopefully to soothe his panic. "You're good." I reassure him, running my fingers through his curly hair.

"I-I." He trails off and I wait patiently for him to continue. "Did you mean what you said?" His voice is barely above a whisper, but I heard him.

"I meant every word. I want you guys to trust me, to know that it's okay to come to me. To look at me for guidance." I tell him truthfully. His big green eyes stare at me, and I look right back at him.

"Thank you." He murmurs, and I place a kiss on his forehead.

"No worries, now go shower and brush your teeth. There's someplace I want to take you." I tell him and he nods, heading towards his bathroom.
