Almost as if I'm slow motion, the sword slices through Sanans flesh, cutting into his shoulder. Hijikata rushes over and ends the assaulter almost immediately, I run and catch Sanan as he falls into my arms. His blood painting his perfectly green yukata and mixing with the blood that already resides on my skin. I immediately take the katana I was holding and use it to rip the bottom of my kimono that is somehow still not sullied from blood, and use it to wrap it around Sanans wound.

Pressing it deeply to stop the bleeding, I notice Hijikata taking down the leftover men that were left. Sanan grips onto my shoulders and buries his head into my neck breathing heavily. I hold the bandage and continue to apply pressure as I notice the bleeding beginning to clot and stop bleeding.

I feel Sanans grip on my shoulders faintly slipping and I shake him, "Hey! Keep awake!" I scream in his ear as I shake him to keep him awake. Hijikata that has now brought demise to everyone around us, comes and kneels beside me to look at the damage done. He squints his eyes and shuts them, I notice this but do not comment as Sanan is still awake.

Once I get to the point where the bleeding has stopped for now, I look at Hijikata and he gets the signal. He bends down and lifts Sanan up, and begins walking back over to the Dango shop we were earlier and I follow in tow.

"That was a very risky move you pulled." Hijikata says as he stumbles slightly trying to get adjusted to Sanans weight, I walk beside him and place my hand on his back to stop him from falling.

"I know. It was the only thing I could think of on the spot." I said as my hand travels down his back, near to my sides. Hijikata glances at my face and I look up at him, "I thought you were going to leave us." He says, his voice slightly shaking and eyes speaking with such a sincere look.

I smile up at him, "I would never, I wouldn't want to leave when I haven't gotten my bath yet." I say as my smile brightens slightly more,

He chuckles softly and shakes his head at my comment. We eventually reach our destination and the shop owner looks shocked to high heavens to see us, I bow gratefully apologizing for the inconvenience. We ask her for some clean water and sewing equipment. Hijikata lays Sanan down in the back as I help fetch the things we need, thanking her for her help in the process.

As I finally gathered the materials I walk back over to where Sanan is laying and Hijikata raises his eyebrow, "Where's the physician? Did you not call for one?" Hijikata angrily exclaims as his face slowly begins to grow red.

"Relax, I've got this." I say with pride as I wash my hands with the clean water I got and whip the blood off of them.

Hijikata stares at me for several moments watching my movements, almost as if in a trance. I tear off his sleeve then put a damp cloth that I dipped in the water and begin to clean the wound. After clearing off much of the dried blood, I got to see the cut and just how deep it really is. 'Oh dear...' I think as I sigh knowing that this isn't good. I look at up, my gaze meeting Hijikata and he frowns understanding my look.

I take the sewing kit and begin to precisely sew and suture the cut, my hands working in rhythm with each other as if in harmony. After several graceful seconds I finish the procedure and cut off any exceeding needle that resides from the wound.

I sigh and wipe the sweat off my brow, getting hit with a cloth at the same time. I open my eyes to see Hijikata looking at me with a smile as he wipes the sweat off my face. I blush slightly, feeling proud of the little accomplishments I achieved through the hellish training I grew up in.

"You did good." He says as smiles, then motions behind me and I look. I see the shop owner provided me with a new kimono, guess my intestines soaked kimono didn't flatter me very well. I smile at the gesture and get up to change.

I walk over to the curtain, seeing the shop owner in the back as I pass her, "thank you very much mam' we are extremely in your debt." I say with a small smile and bow deeply to the old woman as the walks up to me and pays my head.

"Oh no fuss darling, of course I would help you kiddos in need. Especially after you put waste to the ronin that has been terrorizing this side of town. I am in your debt." The old woman says as she herself bows to me, I flinch and lean up shaking my head, "please stop mam'!" I exclaim as I help her lean back up, we both laugh.

"Now child, go change. You are quite filthy." She says as she turns my shoulder and urges me into the curtains to the closet. I reluctantly follow and begin to change out of the dried blood stained clothes I wore and put on a plain light blue kimono, tying the obi quickly I walk back out to see Hijikata by Sanans side dabbing a wet cloth on his forehead.

I grow worried as I kneel down besides him to check on Sanans condition. He has spiked a fever and it feels as if it is getting worse by the second. I frown and look up to Hijikata and he glances back at me.

"We need to get back to the compound." I say with a slight grimace, looking into his eyes he reluctantly agrees, as he knows that is for the best.
