[ROLLING TIDES]

Lily sat at the beach watching the waves roll in and crash on the outskirts of the coastline.

The smell of the salty trade winds hit the depth of her nostrils as she took a deep breath in.

Her hair blows in the wind as she reminisces about a high school sweetheart that she misses.

She remembered when he relocated from South Korea to Hawaii because his dad's business expanded.

Some kids were cruel to him because he didn't speak English well.

She protected Jimin with everything she had and that is one of the many reason why he loved her.

After their freshmen year in high school, he asked Lily to be his girl.

High school sweethearts till senior year, they were a hot item. Inseparable, always lost in each other's eyes.

Everything went south in their relationship when Jimin's family boarded a plane... just a few hours after their graduation ceremony.

Lily's twins came running to her. Jihyun her son spoke, “Mommy, I'm thirsty can I have some juice?”

Lily smiled at him, “Yes, let me give you a bottle.” She reached into the cooler giving her son his refreshment.

Jangmi her daughter happily hugged her mom, “Come help us build sand castles, mommy.”

Lily giggled, “Sure I can, give me a minute, MiMi baby.” She happily watched her children play in the sand.

Wishing and praying that one day her children can see Park Jimin their father for the first time.

She took a quick picture of her children frolicking in the sand. Lily made her way to them helping her twins design a sand castle.

“I know Jimin would be a good father if he knew our twins.”

She thought to herself as her kids collected sea shells to decorate the sand castle.

Jimin's birthday is tomorrow. It would be nice if he was able to see his children he never met on his special day.

Lily wondered if he received the letters she sent him when she was pregnant with their twins.

The last handful of letter she sent was informing Jimin that she was pregnant with their twins. She even send a picture of them.

Maybe those letters scared him off that is why he never answered. She didn't want to think the worse. But many scenarios ran through her mind.

Ironically, their twins were born on his birthday. She was eighteen years old at the time and scared of being all alone. Raising two babies by herself.

“Their seventh birthday is tomorrow. It would be nice if they could meet their father.”

She said to herself as Jangmi sat on her lap hugging her neck.

“Jimin missed so much already. It's time he sees them.”

Meanwhile, Jimin was on his beachfront estate that was overlooking the beach Lily and her children were making a sand castle on.

“Oh, how beautiful a mother and her children playing in the sand. They must be having fun.” He smiled at them thinking of his children he never met.

Jimin came back to Hawaii in hopes of finding Lily. He missed her dearly. He was hoping they could reconnect.

Jimin found out his mother hid all the letters that Lily had written him when she was pregnant with their twins.

He kept the picture of his twins in his wallet. In the back of the picture it read, “Jihyun and Jangmi.”

Those were the names that Jimin liked. He told Lily a million times...

“This is what my son and daughter's name will be when we get married and have children.”

He was happy that she actually gave them those names.

Jimin gazes at the picture briefly, kissing it before tucking the baby pic back in his wallet.

He was saddened that his mother would do such a thing. She hid his children from him all these years.

“They would be around the children's age that was on the beach.”

He debated for an hour if he should go to the beach. Make some friends while he is on an extended vacation.

“Possibly this woman may know or heard about Lily.”

He left the beachfront home walking down the staircase that led him to the beach.
