As we were driving to the appointment we passed mine and Rowan's spot, the spot where I found Anderson at all that time ago. A few weeks back was the anniversary of Rowan's disappearance. Five years since he went missing.
"Who was that important person that you told me about?" he asked, his eyes glued on the road. "What?" I asked with a light chuckle, confused.
"You told me that the most important person in your life besides Rose showed you that place" He was smiling lightly to himself and the sight alone made me avert my eyes, because who knows what would happen if I didn't. We had already sped away from the hidden beach.
"I'm only gonna be honest because you're taking care of me, so don't let this make you think that we're friends 'cause we're not. I am your boss and you're my intern. Got that, Anderson?" I stated, giving him a cold look. "Whatever you say, sweetheart" he smirked, wanna know what would happen if I didn't avert my eyes from him that exact second? He'd be dead on the motherfucking road.
I took a deep breath in, and his sharp gaze was piercing right through me. "Rowan did" I steadied myself. I've never talked about Rowan to anyone besides my close friends and my dad.
"Who's this Rowan?" he asked, curious. Did he seriously not know?
"My uhm... my mi- dead. My dead hu- fiancée." I gulped, it was the first time that I said that he was dead out loud.
I mean, I did say that he was most probably dead a bunch of times, but I never straight up said that he was dead dead. "Okay" he said, and I appreciate the fact that he didn't pity me.
A small silence went by before I spoke up; "Can I ask you something?" I wiped a single tear away and turned to face him.
"It's only the fair thing" he chuckled, and I felt blessed. "What made you drunk enough to find that place?" I was scared of his reaction, had I overstepped? I knew that I overstepped when his whole demeanor changed, when he didn't give me an answer.
You're an idiot Olivia.
"I'm sorry, I-" I tried to apologize but he cut me off. "It's fine. I- When me and my ex-wife got a divorce she... she took Eve, she threatened on taking me to court for custody, and Eve... she was just a baby. Her house had cameras and she said that if I didn't turn around and leave... that then well... she'd make sure that I never saw my little girl anymore. On my way back there was a supermarket that sold vodka and... you can guess what happened next" his grip on the steering wheel tightened, showing off his veins. I gulped harshly and looked through the window, the sun was shining but it was raining outside.
"She sounds like a bitch" I spoke honestly and shrugged, "mhm" he agreed. An awkward silence fell between us and I played with the sleeves of my Dior sweater. "What do you wanna get for lunch?" he broke the silence.
"What do you want for lunch? You have to eat something"
"If I eat I'll throw up, I'm like way too nervous. I've been waiting a year for this." my hands trembled. "Okay, that's enough. That man loves you with his whole fucking heart" Kiara stated, Amelia squeezed my hand. "But I'm huge right now." I muttered, talking about my pregnant belly. My friends looked at me in disappointment at what I had just said
"Can't I just postpone the wedding until after I give birth?" I suggested with a huge smile. "No, you cannot. You're carrying a beautiful baby girl inside of you. Rowan loves you and he loves her." Amelia pointed at my belly.
I just full on started crying, it must've been like twenty minutes because then those strong hands that I know so well hugged me, and I melted into their touch. his touch. Rowan's touch.
