AN HOUR LATER
"I see, you attended Jessica Chastain's birthday party last night?" Scarlett asked as soon as Y/N got out of the bathroom.
"Yeah, I did." Y/N answered, drying her hair with the towel. She's only wearing some boxer shorts and a shirt, while Scarlett's wearing her jacket and some underwear. The green-eyed actress has been hanging out in her house so often that she already has some of her clothes in Y/N's walk-in closet.
"Why?" Scarlett asked, raising an eyebrow.
Y/N looked at Scarlett, "What do you mean why?" She asked, confused.
"Why did you went to her birthday party?" Scarlett asked, "You didn't even tell me anything. We always updated each other about our whereabouts."
"I don't have to tell you everything, Scar." Y/N said.
"I tell you everything." Scarlett said.
Y/N just took a deep breath and looked at the TV in her room, it's currently on. She didn't want to argue with Scarlett tonight because she's tired. "We're not having this conversation, Scar." She said, eyes glued to the screen.
Scarlett stood up from the bed and walked toward Y/N, she blocked the TV from the younger actress and harshly cupped her chin, turning her head to look at her. "Yes, we are." She said.
Y/N didn't say anything and just clenched her jaw, looking between Scarlett's eyes.
"Did you get her something?" Scarlett asked.
"Can you let go of me?" Y/N asked, ignoring Scarlett's question.
"Answer my question first." Scarlett said, tightening her hold on Y/N's chin.
Y/N rolled her eyes, irritated by Scarlett's attitude, "Yes! I gave her something. Are you happy now? Let go of me." She said. And as soon as Scarlett let go of her chin, she turned around. She turned off the TV and went to the bathroom.
Scarlett followed behind.
"Wow," Scarlett scoffed. "What did you get her?"
Y/N hang the towel and took a deep breath to calm herself down. She's a very calm person, she rarely loses her temper. But right now, Scarlett is pushing all her buttons. She's exhausted and she still has a morning schedule tomorrow.
"Scarlett," Y/N whispered and faced the green-eyed actress. "Why does it even matter to you?" She asked because she's genuinely confused, she honestly don't understand Scarlett's attitude sometimes.
"Why don't you answer my question?" Scarlett asked and completely ignored Y/N's question.
Y/N sighed, shook her head, and walked past the green-eyed actress. She settled on her bed and watched as Scarlett marched towards the bed, standing next to her. She knows Scarlett will never stop until she gets her answer.
"You know I'll never stop asking you until you finally answer my question." Scarlett said, voicing out Y/N's thoughts.
"Fine," Y/N said and sighed. "I gave her my promise ring."
"What promise ring?" Scarlett asked, frowning.
"It's mine and Jessica's promise ring. I got it when we were just dating, but I stopped wearing it when we got divorced. Jessica didn't because it gives her comfort and when she lost it three months ago, she was devastated. So I thought I'd give her mine since I don't wear it anymore." Y/N calmly explained.
Scarlett frowned even more.
"Look, we're not getting back together. I would honestly rather give her that ring than throw it away. Besides, it gives her some sort of comfort, and Jess... she gets anxious sometimes, and that little piece of jewelry gives her confidence and makes her comfortable. That's all. Nothing more." Y/N said, then she held Scarlett's hands. "Me and Jess are not getting back together, Scar. I'm just looking out for her because she's still a part of my life, that's all."
That's the thing about their friendship—they would argue about stuff like that. But mostly, it was Scarlett who would start something like that, which confuses Y/N, but still, at the end, she finds herself saying all the things that will make Scarlett feel better. It doesn't matter if she has to explain every little detail, she just doesn't like the feeling of Scarlett thinking about that kind of stuff about her.
"Come on," Y/N whispered, kissing the back of Scarlett's hand. "Come to bed, let's sleep, Scarly."
Scarlett sighed. She went to bed and got under the covers, she turned her back on Y/N and the younger actress immediately hugged her from behind. "I'm still mad at you." She whispered, but she hugged Y/N's arm around her.
Y/N smiles, she kissed Scarlett's head. "I'm sorry, Scar. And sorry if I didn't tell you I was attending her party last night. You were right, we always updated each other. Sorry I failed to do that last night." She said.
Scarlett sighed and kissed Y/N's arm. "It's okay. I'm just glad I'm here... instead of her." She said.
Y/N's heart jumped. That's one of the things that also confuses her about Scarlett. The green-eyed actress would say things like that without explaining herself or clarifying what she meant, and when Y/N would ask, the blonde woman would just change the topic.
"Good night, Y/N." Scarlett whispered, kissing Y/N's arm again.
Y/N sighed, "Good night, Scarlett."
