Chapter Sixteen~ King⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅
They heard the whispers of the kings death on their way to the nursery.
Aemond assured Rhaella it was just a rumor, there had been gossip like this before. Whenever the king took a bad turn and the Maesters would rush to his chambers. All it took was for a servant to see and in a matter off minutes the king had apparently died.
The first three of their children were playing with a set of wooden horses, gifted to them by Viserys. Aegor lay sleeping soundly in his crib.
"We will take them." Aemond told the wet nurse who was in charge, he lifted Vaegon from the floor and took Eleana's hand.
Rhaella lifted Aegor from his cradle, whispering too him as he stirred in his sleep. Aerys wandered to her side when she held her hand out for him. "Come on Little prince." She sighed leading them out the room.
The six of them, lead by Aemond and Rhaella Marched toward, where they were told their mother was waiting for them.
When they entered the room, Alicent and Helaena were sat by one another.
One look from her mother and she knew the rumors Aemond promised were just that. Were not.
"King." Vaegon shouted. Wriggling out of his fathers grasp and running to his lady grandmother.
Aemond dropped Elaenas hand, letting her run off toward the fireplace where one of Aegons hounds lay. Aerys pulling away from his mother and joining her by the dog.
Rhaella needed to sit down.
It was all coming true.
The visions from child birth.
The Messages in the fire from the gods.
This was the start of it. The start of the end."Where is Aegon?" She asked her mother and her sister, neither one of them knowing the answer. She collapsed onto the bench opposite her mother, Aemond stood behind her. She wanted them close. "Children, come here." She told them, all of them falling to her side.
Her nerves set in, People were called in and out of the room. Alicent sending them each off with different tasks.
Hours passed, with no word on the prince.
It became clear what was happening. They were usurping the throne.
The widow and the hand plotting to overthrow the heir and place the eldest son on the seat of swords.
"You must not do this." Rhaella said after an hour of silence from her. "It will cause war." She told her mother who was pacing the room.
Helaena kept on mumbling to herself and she threaded her needle into fabric. "A beast, there is a beast beneath the boards." She rambled.
"Rhaella, please." The queen breathed.
Criston Cole entered the room bowing his head to one half of the royal family. "Prince Aegon is not to be found within the castle walls, your grace." He informed the queen. "Your father has sent Ser Erryk into the city to find him."
"You cannot trust him." Rhaella mumbled, stroking the head of her youngest babe.
Alicent didn't hear her. "Ser Erryk knows Aegon, he has the advantage." She stated, trying her best to calculate a plan to bring back the stowaway prince.
Cole turned to look at Aemond, he had been sulking only really paying much attention to his daughter has she played near his feet.
"I trust again to you, Ser Criston and to your loyalty." Alicent stared deep into the knights eyes. "Aegon must be found and brought to me." She told him. "The very fate of the seven kingdoms depends on it."
Rhaella rocked herself and her baby. "He needs to stay lost." She mumbled from the chair next to her husband. "Aemond." The prince turned to face his wife. "You must go with them, He must not return, for the sake of our children." He thought her mad. "I beg you."
"What do you mean." Aemond asked leaning forward, stroking Eleana's head. "Why must he not."
Rhaella could not tell him. He would stop this all now and find Aegon in a matter of minutes, drive his sword through their brothers heart. But that would only make it worse.
"He must, stay away, from the throne." She spoke the words taking pauses between each, making sure he understood what she was saying.
Aemond knew Rhaella was nervous when he saw the rawness of her nails, tiny cuts letting the smallest amount of blood escape her. And Rhaella was only nervous when she knew something bad was coming. "I will come with you." He announced, staring at his children, three of them playing together on the carpet, not a clue what was happening around them.
Rhaella saw the disapproval on her mothers face. "That would not be my desire Aemond." She told him as she headed their way. Aemond Stood to meet her, held onto her arms. "If anything has happened." She whispered to her son.
"Cole needs me, Mother." Aemond told her. "Ser Erryk isn't the only one who knows Aegons doings."
With a single nod from Cole Alicent allowed her son to leave, He kissed the top of his wife's head before heading off to 'find his brother'.
"Why are you doing this?"Rhaella laughed. "It's pathetic."
Alicent frowned, confused at her daughter's accusations. "What?"
"You, putting Aegon on the throne." She stood up. "Father had years to rename him as heir and he never did!" She exclaimed. "For a simple fucking reason, Aegon is a Twat." Alicent raised her hand but Rhaella caught it.
"Raise your hand to me again and it'll be the last time you use it." She said through gritted teeth. Alicent winced when Rhaella twisted her arm.
"He's your king Rhaella." Alicent snapped, pulling her hand away.
"I do not care." Rhaella sighed slumping back into her seat. "He'll be horrible at it."
Helaena winced when her pin pricked her finger. "Black Dragons bleeding from the sky." She muttered. "Green dragons bleeding below."
Nobody listened.
