Chapter Thrity-One~ A Son For A Son
⋅•⋅⊰∙∘☽༓☾∘∙⊱⋅•⋅
"Scream and we kill you all." It was a man, one she thought she recognized but could not place where she knew him from, he was tall and his build was heavy.
"A debt is owed." The other said he was smaller and thinner.
Trying her hardest to keep her composure she moved her children behind her body, shielding them from the death that had taken them hostage. "What is the meaning of this?!" She demanded, whispering for Elaena to sit on the floor as she placed Aegor in her lap, instructing her other two sons to sit down too. "Who are you?!"
"Debt collectors." The smaller one answered.
"Your grace!" The bigger one mocked. "A son in place for the one your husband killed." He dragged Helaena's son's from her grasp. "Which one will you loose?"
"My husband killed no one!" Helaena cried.
Rhaella felt her heart tighten, She felt Aerys grab onto her hand.
"No not himself, but it was under his orders." The smaller, bald man said.
Rhaella felt a feeling she never had before, a torturous amount of guilt. Aegon may of reveled in the death of his nephew but he had not ordered it. And because of Aemond, now one of Helaena's sons was to be stolen from her.
"I beg of you!" Helaena sobbed, the sight of blades being held to her children's throats causing her distress. "Take me! Take me instead!"
Alicent struggle against her binds, shrieking at the scene before her.
"A wife is not a son." The bigger man mumbled. "Now choose or we will have them both."
After what felt like an eternity under dragon flame Helaena finally muttered her youngest sons name. The way his little eyes began to water made Rhaella bubble in rage, but she would not step forward at the risk of her own sons.
"Hear that little boy." The tall one whispered. "Your Mummy doesn't want you."
But it was not Maelor's blood that stained the carpet. It was not his death that Helaena screamed for. It was not his little head that was sliced from his body.
It had been Jaehaerys that had been slain.
It was a gruesome image, the boys feet stood on the ground still after the head had been stolen, The veil of death slowly dragged him through to the unknown, before it fell limp on the floor.
A river of crimson escaped the child's corpse, running from the top of the neck and out onto the floor, creeping toward The dowager Queen who screamed against the cloth that gagged her.
The bald man flung the living prince back toward his mother.
Rhaella felt guilty for hoping that Helaena's dead son was the only life that would be taken tonight. Perhaps that thought was what made the Gods punish her.
"You." The heavy killer said pointing his blade toward Rhaella. "Choose." He said. "Both of them must pay, the queen lost two children for your betrayal."
Rhaella shook her head. "You have stolen enough from us today." She shouted backing herself up so that Aerys would be shield between her and the wall. "Leave now and you may live to see another sunrise, rather than staying and risking your life here, because I assure you I will not make it quick."
