"What's going to happen next?" I asked him, feeling a little defeated. My eyes landed on the steel bars covering the dirty windows again. I can't see a way out. At least, not yet.
"The Martinez will be here soon and I will hand you over to them to do as they please. After some time I will let slip to your father that they were responsible for your abduction. By then, I'm sure you would already be... swimming with the fishes." His lips curled menacingly at his last statement. I remain silent, giving my best effort to remain unaffected, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of knowing how terrified I am right now.
The Martinez might be incompetent, but that wasn't the only reason I turn them in. They are the lowest scum you could imagine. They aren't your typical rule breakers, they are animals. They have a hand in child prostitution, human trafficking and were even involved in warmongering.
They kill without reason and are known to play sadistic games with their victims. There's no rule they won't break and no limits to their atrocity.
I thought the feds got them all, I guess I was wrong. But then again, I never imagined that they would be able to figure out that I was the one who betrayed them. And now, I'm about to be handed to one of them and I'm sure, any chance of escape would be nill once I'm in their hands.
"You're not going to get away from this. One way or another, Luke will find me and I'll escape. Then, my dad will be the first person to know of your betrayal."
"Oh really? And how about your betrayal? You're literally sleeping with the enemy. How would daddy dearest feel when I told him about you and your boy toy?" He asked me, trying to goad me back.
I remain silent. Johnny didn't know that dad already knew about Luke and me. But based on our last interaction, I don't know if dad approves of Luke or not. Johnny's right. He's probably letting things play out before he shows his hand. If I managed to get out of this alive, would dad approve of my relationship with Luke?
But then again, does it matter? Even Luke's dad doesn't approve of us. If that's not a hint of what my dad's reaction could be, I don't know what is. After everything, he will eventually end up choosing what is good for the Greysons. And that is definitely not me and Luke, under one roof.
The best I can hope for is to continue with our secret affair. Because let's face it, what we have, isn't something that can be flaunted in public. In the end, everything will lead up to me becoming the secret mistress and him, my dirty little secret. And maybe, one day, we'll wake up to our reality and I would find Luke choosing another to be by his side.
My thoughts were interrupted when the door opens and in walked two men who I immediately recognized to be members of the Martinez family. They flashed me a smile that made me shudder in fear, a look that was full of promises of what they planned to do with me.
"Miss Greyson, I'm going to enjoy breaking you. You've made a huge mistake interfering with our business." One of them spoke and I felt chills run down my spine.
Whatever confidence I possess, went straight out the window. Perhaps I shouldn't have messed with them, but the opportunity was too good to pass up. I don't regret going after them, I just wished I had made sure to get the job done right and not leave a single one still alive.
I never dreamed that they would come for me. I was too overconfident. But then again, of course, I was. I'm a Grayson's princess after all. If not for cousin Johnny, they wouldn't have dared to even lift a finger against me.
Luke
My bloody fist met Lance's battered body and I could literally hear his bones cracking. But it was still not enough. I needed more. I've been seeing red for the last few hours and beating him to a pulp did nothing to sate my rage.
