Prompt: Falling Asleep Together
It was late. Really late. Two a.m. and we have to go to the studio tomorrow late.
David Smallbone drove through the rain as the guys got sleepier and sleepier. The first to go was, of course, Luke. He laid his head on Ben, who pretended to complain but really didn't care.
Ben followed soon after.
The rest of the guys sat in quiet awe, each in their own thoughts, the way only darkness and close quarters can. The quiet domestricity, the peace that was rare with these guys remained as David pulled up to his farmhouse. They were all still asleep. Gently, he and his wife Helen roused the bandmates up, the same way they had years ago when their own kids would fall asleep on night drives, often after one of Rebecca's shows. The way Helen guided Ben up the stairs reminded her husband of the way she would help their own son Ben, back when he was much younger, and before the littler ones arrived.
David's throat caught as familiar memories flooded him.
"Funny memories, isn't it?"Helen whispered, joining him at the foot of the stairs.
"Yes, indeed,"he replied.
