"You don't know who I am do you ?" Yelena asked in which James only shook his head
"I'm sorry. I don't"
Yelena only smiled
"It's ok"
A million things were racing through James's head as he felt like he didn't have enough time to ask them all
"You....you knew my mother ?" was all James could fork out in which Yelena smiled and nodded her head
"Yes"
"How"
James could feel the emotion dispersing through her as she looked down at his red hourglass necklace
"She was the only friend I ever had. A Sister to me. It was the red room where we met. I remember always Idolizing her, wanting to be here, Do the things she did, Be the great Natalia Romanova"
"You were a Red Room Soldier ?"
A sad nod from her head gave James her answer
"Always Second place compared to your Mother. She had it all. The skill, the looks, the intelligence, the men dropping to her knees. Russia's most lethal spy. But even with all that, she never looked down upon me, saw me as an equal, little sister, someone meant to be taken care of"
Yelena sighed as she looked back at James
"You can probably tell I was heartbroken to find out she left. Russia, the red room, Me. She was the one thing keeping me sane in that horrid place and there she was a couple years later on the news. Black Widow, fighting alongside the Avengers"
James couldn't say more as he just continued to listen
"Just like her I got out. Eventually, Freed my mind but it was already too late. The damage had been done and I was nothing more than what the Red Room had made me. But not your Mother no because just like in the red room Natalia always got what she wanted. Finding out she fell in love with the Legendary Captain America. The absolute hunk of a man that your father was"
James found himself cringing at the description she gave him
"Everything seemed fine"
All of a sudden Yelena's tone completely dropped in pure sadness
"Then the robots started to attack...."
"Ultron" James blurted out
"It was all over the news. The robots were invading, people were dying, the Avengers were...gone. The only person I ever cared about was dead...and I never got to say goodbye"
Retelling all this was hard on Yelena as she felt like she was opening up a part of her she wanted to keep closed
"Knowing your Mother left this world.....without something to keep her memory going. It hurt. Hurt knowing the Red Room took something from her that she could never get back. And I've kept that pain and feeling for so many years. But when I saw this" she said using her finger to touch the necklace as her smile came back
"My hope sparked again. The same hope I've seen your Father put in people. And it only grew more when I saw you fight. Your moves and skill. Your agility. You move just like her. Have the strength like your Father. You truly are the Perfect Child"
"So i'm told"
"It's the truth" Yelena persisted as she rested a hand on his cheek
"You have the DNA of both your Mother and Father coursing through your body. The same Serum your Father took the one so many people tried to perfect and recreate is within you right now. Along with the Serum your Mother was given, turning her into the lethal spy she was. You are something special. One of a kind something so many people would want so that they could use you and turn you into something of personal gain"
